We are having an art festival in our town next month and one of my close friends want to sponsor me to print a few of my pictures to display and sell. I am so very nervous and don't know if I should, I don't want to waste her money or make a fool of myself. I wouldn't even know which photos to choose. Any advice or input would be appreciated, if you could browse through my project and help me out with choice too that would be great.
Go for it Tracy! Your work is incredible, and I suspect you'd sell quite a few prints. Only one way to find out. Don't go life wondering "What if?". BE adventurous.
Don't even hesitate - ask your friend for some suggestions as to her choices and then decide which ones - I think you'll have more trouble deciding what to leave out!
I would definitely go for it. You asked for some suggestions from your project, so here are the ones that appeal to me from the perspective of potential sales:
I stopped there since that's already quite a few for a first attempt. The biggest consideration is "market." I know nothing about the style of art at your local festival, so it's hard to predict what sells. You want to try to find shots that will match the decor of a home or office. That's what sells. Also, if you have several that are in the same theme, display those together. You may generate more interest, especially with local businesses, if they can purchase 3 or 4 photos that match a theme. (How often have you seen that in restaurants or doctors offices?)
Another consideration, if you're interested in booking photo shoots, is to display a few images of themes you would be willing to hire yourself out to shoot. You may not want to sell those images - especially if they are of your kids - but you may want to sell that service.
Good luck! You've some great photography, so I'd say it's well worth taking a shot.
I think you've got a lot of photos that are print and purchase worthy. My two favorites from this month were on the 16th and the 11th (the boy with the book and the laundromat).
You have such a large selection of wonderful photos! Think of it as an adventure. If you see it as an opportunity to learn, then any sales will just be a big bonus!!
Tracy, you really can't go wrong. You are an artist.... its an art festival. Your work belongs there. If there will be young adults mostly that consider themselves edgy, I'd go with your edgier stuff (such as Sept 6). If there will be family types or educators, then I'd go with inspirational stuff (such as July 17). Whatever you go with, I'm sure it will go over well.
I'll fix the corner of Made in Mummy ;) of course I'll go over all of them prior to printing to fix anything up... What do you all think of her selection?
I really love that shot with the book! I think all the choices look great and I believe that you'll do very well with these. Best wishes for your new adventure! And I hope after all is said and done, you'll be looking at it all with the same excitement and wonder as the boy with the book (which I had to fav by the way!).
@tracywilliams I cant see how you could miss the market with a selection like this - they're all stunning and different and uncommonly beautiful!
Wishing you every success - which you richly deserve!

I love your work and think is it very marketable!
My sponsor suggested these prints for sale
Then this one printed large and framed (available to order)
Then also to show and hopefully parents to book sittings for images like this.
