Processing labs

October 25th, 2012
I've never sent off to have my pictures printed, but I'd like to because some people have asked to purchase some of my prints. Where do you get yours printed?

Caren, I don't know of any special place for regular printing besides the usual ones like snapfish. One I use for canvas and they do a great job is http://www.canvasondemand.com/, that since it's for purchases, they might be interested in it.

I would suggest FullColor (fullcolor.com) and Miller's Professianal Imaging (millerslab.com). I use fullcolor but have heard great things about Millers as well. Also, I have heard that Mpix would be the next best thing to a professional lab. Here is a link to a great side by side comparison to some of the top Pro Labs to the most used comsumer printers, by Paint The Moon Photography. Hope this helps!

@anazad511 @tamaralaraphotography Thank you so much for the suggestions. I will check those out! :)

smugmug.com or mpix.com. I personally switched to smugmug.com because mpix had some issues in quality with prints as well.

@staci2171 Thank you, Staci!

I agree @staci2171. I had some photos printed at MPix and the quality sucked. They cropped it all funky (even though it looked fine in their basket thing before I checked out). Then they gave me a hard time about returning it. I'll try smugmug next.

I will say smugmug customer service is superb! Had an issue with an order and they were on top of it…they respond really quickly too. Can not say enough good things about them. They use labs from all over the world too. @clmiller

My photography instructor recommends smugmug and mpix. She's a pro and showed us the difference good paper and good ink make.

We use Shutterfly for most prints or ArtsCow for some interesting products for a reasonable price.
