Uh, first post a pic..lol. Don't worry too much about what others are doing and focus on what you want to do. If you want comments on your work, be sure to give them to others. Follow others and Comment if you want the same in return. Have fun.
Oh and you will see a lot of acronyms on here such as PP = popular page, DOF = depth of field, POV = point of view, SOOC = Straight out of camera...and I am sure there are some others I have forgotten.
Don't worry too much about your photos not being good enough. There's a huge range of experiences on here and people are very supportive. Just start posting, have a look at what others are doing, follow those you like but also, when you get started, don't just comment on those you're following. There is a risk of just seeing shots from the circle you create. I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience.

As above but also take part in some of the chalenges. There is a weekly theme that can be found in the blog section. Also weekly chalenges such as what would you do, mundane, words etc found under various discussion threads.
