How Much?

An acquaintance of mine works for some blogger. She has asked my permission in the past to use some of my photos, to which I agreed.

Well, she just sent me a text asking me if I could generate a few photos to use as the website's banner. She was wondering if she could give me a concept and I generate a few photos from them to chose from.

She also asked me how much I charge. I have never charged for a photo before but I would be going out of my way to think of creative ideas, plus, I could really use the extra cash.

What do you think is a reasonable price for my services?

Maybe you can try to break it down into how many hours you think it will take you. And try to come up with a $ figure you would be happy with.

Don't know what the standard is. I had someone pay me $50 to use of my images on her business website. It was an image I already had though- nothing new I had to come up with.

Be sure you consider your time, any travel expenses (even if it's just a tank of gas to get to the shoot,) and your processing time. By asking you to shoot a concept she provides, she's crossing the boundary between an acquaintance asking to use a photo you took and has become a client requesting your professional services. You certainly want to price it such that it's attractive for her to pay it, but you also don't want to lose money on it.
