I travel a lot (supply travel stock photographs) and will definitely try to continue to take a photograph each day although I may not always have internet access to be able to upload every day. Obviously I will reset the clock and date in my camera but do I need to reset the time zone on my 'settings' page here on the '365 Project' site?
I am worried that if I take photo in Thailand for instance at 7am (Thailand is 8-hours ahead of the UK on GMT), will it be shown as haven been taken at 7am (on my camera metadata) or at 11pm (time in the UK)?
I hope this makes sense, all I'm trying to do is make sure the time and date are shown correctlyl!! Any advice gratefully received - thank you
I think it'll go by the exif data in the file, so if the image itself says it was taken at 7am on a given date, that's the time it'll show up as being taken. That's how it's always worked for me before.
@littlehippiegirl@mcrt - that's great, thank you for that. I'm off to Thailand where I've never had a problem with the internet but afterwards going to Burma - not expecting internet regularly! :-)
@emmadurnford Assuming you are spending a day or two in Bangkok here is a little place off the beaten path worth checking out for pictures. If you post the coordinates into Google Earth or your favourite map website it will show you where it is. I usually travel with a GPS to help me locate and relocate spots to visit.
unless you are competing in the weekly theme or a time sensitive challenge, most here will not care about your time zone. And if they do, I choose to ignore that much obsession with rules. Have fun.
My time zones are always out. I have to pretend to be in the Solomon Islands in order for my comments and photos to show the correct times of posting. When we finish daylight saving, I'll have to change it again.
@chapjohn@mcrt@phillyphotos@amandakay129@jools Thanks all for the advice, and Mike - I'll check out the co-ordinates in Bangkok. I've been a few times and have 4-5 days there catching up with friends etc so plenty of time to take a look - thank you.
