Replying to Comments

January 13th, 2013
I'm sorry I've had to start another thread here, but I can't even reply to the first one, which has been the whole problem!! I am running Google Chrome (I have tried other browsers it doesn't make a difference), the latest Java is enabled, I've cleared every cache there could be, and I STILL cannot comment. I'm clicking every reply button I can, and occasionally it will throw someone's name down in the box, but when I type the rest of my comment and hit "post", it does absolutely nothing but sit there unposted. I just want everyone who has so nicely commented on my work how much it's appreciated, and I'm sorry I can't comment on yours right now. If anyone has any other ideas on why I'm having this issue, I would appreciate them very much!!

@dstod - Always tag Ross for tech issues so he will see them and be able to, hopefully, help.

I as about to say someone else was having trouble - but I see it as you too Deena - sorry to hear that.

At the risk of saying what you don't want to hear - it does seem to be a problem at your end, as no-one else is reporting problems - I've certainly been adding and receiving comments ok,

I hope you can sort it - you don;t need technical issues making life here difficult.

Are people able to comment on your pics ok (actually, scrap that question - I've just tried, and I can)

You talk about your browser, java and cookies. The other thing to look at is antivirus and firewall settings.

The best thing to do is disable both (only for a minute) and try posting a reply - but remember to put them back on, and don't surf anywhere else whilst they are off.

At least then, if it works, you'll know here the problem lies.

Good luck, and let us know

I had this problem w explorer back in October.... It was maddening!! I switched to chrome and all has been fine since then... I have no idea what the issue was although I think it may have been related to a windows 7 patch my puter is refusing to install... Anyway - just mentioning that in case it's something related to your operating system and you haven't checked it?

You would be best off emailing Ross with this,

@mikehamm Whenever you tag someone, you need to put a space after their tag, i.e. @scrivna :)

@pocketmouse - I've never put a space before and it seemed to work. Maybe just coincidental. Thanks, I'll remember that.

@mikehamm no I mean a space after :) whenever you hit reply, it puts a space after it automatically - when you tagged Ross before, you put a full stop after the tag. The code needs a space afterwards so it's recognised as a discrete phrase, else it won't be picked up as a tag.

@pocketmouse - Sorry, I meant "before" as in previously.

@mikehamm Haha oops my bad! Yeah I think I remember Ross saying that it needs a space afterwards - you won't notice this hitting "reply" cos it does it for you. I could be wrong about it though.
