Hello to all the Brisbane 365er's. I have been challenged to take a landscape shot where the focus of the shot is nature. I have a busy week (moving house), and no time to go driving aimlessly looking for shooting locations, so I was wondering if you guys could suggest a location where I might get landscape nature views, not too far from Brissy. I live on the western side of Brisbane, so out this way is good.
Was going to say Wynnum mangrove boardwalk, but I would imagine you should be able to find something fitting your description down along the river at Belbowrie / Anstead or College's Crossing. Quite nice in behind the St Lucia (or is it Indooroopilly?) golf course where it backs onto the river then onto the old Qld Govt site at I'pilly I know there are some great site out on that road as I used to walk around that area to clear my head if I needed to when I worked there. I think there'd also a tiny little nature reserve at Graceville
@corymbia@ozziehoffy Thanks guys. Cass, I live right near the Mt cootha botanical gardens, so go there often.
Amanda, those suggestions are great. Thanks. That is kind of what I was looking for...some insider knowledge :). Will try to check out those places
My first thought was Cunningham's Gap or the Glasshouse Mountains but that's probably further than you want to travel. The upper reaches of Kedron Brook, also around Upper Brookfield is nice which is on your side of town?
Hmm...I lived in toowong when I was at uni (a while ago now)...the park behind the big round a bout (near the bus depot), Brookfield & kennore (don't know that way so well), I second out behind the uni and golf course. What about Springfield direction - I think there are some open enough spaces out there. Any particular feel you were looking for?
What about something different - the jacarandas alongside corro drive (maybe even lit up at night...if they still do that), but with trees silhouetted in front, or focused on something else nature ish in contrast to the city behind? The bats that oddly hang around the Gotham city building? I used to walk along a great little tree covered path through oakman park - between miskin st (the really steep section) near the bbc oval and mogill rd.....?
There are many areas, anywhere along the river is a good start.. Think I would check out Amanda's ideas, because I haven't tried some of them yet. Rocks riverside park is okay, but I think there are better places. Mt coot-tha has some trails, we haven't had rain to fill the falls up. But the area is pretty. A bit of a hike and up hill, but pretty. I wouldn't walk it alone
@ozziehoffy@corymbia@asutherland1964@cathycope@bobfoto@leigh7900@sugarmuser Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I am kind of looking for a more open feel to my shot, which is not great around Mt Cootha area, as there are lots of trees and hard to get high enough for an open vista (except of the city which I've done loads before).
Think I will check out Amanda's suggestions down along the river. Otherwise I will try what you suggested Leigh, and go for a big tree with the city behind. I would love to do the Glass house mountains, but its an hours drive from my place, and just not enough time this week. Thanks.
@cathycope Cathy - thanks so much for the offer. I would love to come up there one day or perhaps early one morning or later in the afternoon for shots. I would love to have a shot of them. I always think they are so spectacular.... and unusual, the way they just stick straight up out of the flat ground
