Chicago 365ers

January 17th, 2013
I am looking to meet up with 365ers from Chicago the first week of March. I am going to a Software Rollout / training event and will be in town on the evenings of the 5th, 6th and 7th. Yes, I know that this is Tuesday through Thursday but... that is when I will be there.

Since I know absolutely nothing about the town, I would like some pointers about what and where to shoot.

It would be great is someone(s) would like to meetup and do some shots together.

I hope to hear from some of you guys.

What part of Chicago will you be in? That will help to give suggestions of what to shoot.

I am staying at a hotel near O'Har:e airport but will go into town if that is best.

Ditto to Melissa's question.
If you're in the city and since you're talking about evening, Millennium Park is a great place to shoot with lots of possibilities because of sculptures, city skyline, etc. Navy Pier is another -- the large ferris wheel and the view of the city to the south and north. It also depends on weather -- March is very unpredictable here at that time of year.

I don't think you'll have many photograph opportunities near the airport, so getting into the city if possible is the way to go. As Taffy said, Millennium Park is a GREAT place to photograph because it's got everything: nature (Lurie Garden), architecture (Jay Pritzker pavillion, Smurfit Stone Building (my personal favorite), Cloud Gate (a.k.a. The Bean) Crown Fountain (although I'm not sure if it's running this time of year). Art (the Boeing Galleries). If you can get to the Sears Tower (they're gonna tell you it's now called The Willis Tower, but they're idiots) they have a sky deck.

Miracle Mile for street shots. Wrigleyville is pretty interesting. The El will provide some good street photography opportunities. Millennium Park, Lake Shore Drive (the part where you can walk, not the part where you drive). Definitely hit up downtown where the bridges are so that you can get the river and skyscrapers in your shots. Navy Pier. Good lord, Chi-town offers sooo much. And if you order pizza for delivery, order from Gino's East.

OH, and the public library downtown... you've got to see that. The chicago theatre, buckingham fountain, old chicago water tower district, drake fountain, palmer house hotel..... be sure to have fun

you will have so much fun in the city - make sure you get out of Rosemont even if it is in the evening after your event. hope the weather is good for you!

@jsw0109
Eh, it's okay.
January 18th, 2013
@mej2011 well, I should be more specific... they have the best deep dish pizza. Except the Libertyville location... I don't know why, but the quality isn't as good from that location. For regular crust, I actually like Giordano's better. But deep dish is the "Chicago" thing. Aurelios is really good too.

@jsw0109
Aurelios is 100% better than Gino's East or Giordano's. And the whole "deep dish" thing is weird, my parents didn't have deep dish growing up there, neither did I.

@mej2011 well, deep dish was invented in Chicago ;)
