I was thinking of buying a new camera and after some research I stumbled upon this one. I chose this camera because I want more extra options and possibilities than with my simple Fuji pocket camera, and I love the fact that it's a system camera, so it isn't as big as most mirror cameras, but has almost the same features in a size a bit larger than a pocket camera.
I'm very new at this, that's why I love to hear opinions of others.
Does anyone here have any experience with the Sony NEX-5N?
Hello, Stevie! =)) I might not be the best advisor, I have sony nex 6. I use it a lot, as its small to carry around. Compared to the mirror camera (such as sony alpha 580) the focusing is a bit slower, and in the low light it gets confused. But you can get around it by focusing manually. But for day pictures its good, i like mine, but lets wait for nex5n users to reply =)))
I have the 5n and i really like it, I find it can get a bit carried away with the colour sometimes and it appears too bright but overall I love it. The nex is my everyday & holiday camera, with the pancake lens it fits on my pocket but is better than a camera phone. Very versatile lots of settings from the bog standard point n shoot to all the same settings my canon 500d has plus it has some fun ones too, i love the tilt shift, its great for playing and it is very fast. I also like the panoramic setting too. The tilting screen on the back is amazing, I wish all my cameras had that.
I have a sony nex-7 and I love it so much. So light to carry around and so powerful. The 5N is supposed to be great too! I'm sure you won't have any regrets if you're looking to do a lot woth something light and portable.
I have the NEX 5 and have had it for a year and a half now. I love it - for all the reasons people have mentioned. It's so light, but you get great quality pictures and full manual functionality virtually. The live screen at the back also gives a really good feel for the exposure you're setting too. Menus are a touch on the fiddly side but I've got used to that in the main. And the only other thing that I find is a design issue is that the Rec button to get it to take video is positioned exactly where my thumb always lands when I'm gripping it. I have to regularly weed out all the random accidental videos I take - but not a big issue for all the up sides.
I have a nex 5 and love the big features it has in the small package... I have extra lenses too. I can use the 16 mm lens and put the nex in my purse... I will follow all of you to see what great photos you all take with the nex... only problem I miss the eye viewfinder

So yeah I really bum the 5n for a practical everyday camera, this is one of my favourite shots using it....lots but not all of the images in that set were shot using the sony.
