Anyone know how to get the camera to continuously number my photos. It keeps starting over again. Does this make sense??
My Fujifilm automatically kept numbering my photos, but I found where I could restart the numbering at, if I wanted. Just need to know where to find that on my new camera.
I guess I could just read the manual, but I am super busy today!! I'll have to save that for a lazy day.....
It's within this menu area:
d1 - d7 Shooting/display
Press MENU, go to the left and select up and down to the pencil icon. You'll then see CUSTOM SETTING MENU on the color LCD. Click down to "d" SHOOTING/DISPLAY and click to the right.
Go to d4 "File number sequence"
This ensures your file numbers keep counting up.
Nikon goofed, and left it OFF by default. Left this way, you'll start from DSC_0001 every time you reformat a card! Over time you'll have hundreds of photos on your computer all called DSC_0001. It will drive you crazy and it will be too late to do anything about it.
Ooo this is great as I've been annoyed at this happening on the D5000 I've just bought (for work but mainly for home ha ha)... THanks Kim for rasing the question and Mike for the fix...
You're welcome all. What I ended up doing was a Google search and it led me to Ken Rockwell's website. He has set up how to use a lot of different Nikon cameras on his site. Very helpful. I just copied and pasted his info.

Please reset this to ON for sanity's sake.
