In Southern Ontario at this time of year we are usually under several feet of snow. This was taken in 2010:
This year (so far) has been extremely cold with a couple bursts of snow. Yesterday we had a torrential downpour washing away the bits of snow we had on the ground. I don't remember a winter like this before!
Let's see your unusual winter (or summer) weather pictures.
We are in the dead middle of Summer here in Australia and have just had 5 tornados rip through Queensland causing major floods and an absolute mess! Our big beautiful old gumtrees being lifted from the ground by their roots
We had intense rain storms and fog yesterday, here in Wisconsin, and it was 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Now we're getting six plus inches of snow, and they canceled school! What the?
In January of 2011, I had 55 inches of new lake effect snow, on top of the 20 some we already had. It pancaked my old apple barn. But, here I am out my front window this January.
Maryland had well below freezing temperatures last week, but today it's over 70. We often have wildly fluctuating winter temperatures, but this year is definitely more extreme than usual!
OK, this is not a "weather shot" as such, but I think it sums up our weather here - HOT! Last Summer was pretty dreary - which was alright with me, I was heavily pregnant - this one is making up for it with hot, hot days and hot nights too.
@lauralatham Precipitation that leaves everything covered in a layer of ice. Literally every exposed surface is covered in a layer of ice. Very pretty to look at but very dangerous.
@nadaa so does it rain and then immediately freeze? Is it very unusual? How is it not snow?? Sorry - I'm asking as if you were a meteorologist - I'm going to google!!
@lauralatham No worries. It is actually freezing rain. It has to do with alternating layers of cold and warm air in the atmosphere. So, precipitation melts and freezes as it falls.
I googled. I know what it does but did not know exactly the cause of it.
And I guess all of this water is supposed to freeze again tonight after a lovely rain/snow mixed storm today.

Thanks for your photos and comments!
Looks like weather is being unusual all around the world these days.
