It's hard, you guys. I just got kicked out of my boyfriends apartment [I... technically wasn't supposed to be here], and one of our roomates ratted us out. I"m moving in with his parents 40 minutes away, quitting my job and going to have to job hunt again.
Besides that, I was going to do a therapeutic hang-out with my friend, and I have to cancel because I'm packing and there's a Tornado north of here along with heavy rain.
In the midst of the stress, how does one find inspiration and motivation? :C
I go back to the basic idea of find one thing a day that makes me smile/happy. I dealt with my miscarriage a year ago through pictures here on 365. It wasn't easy, but it helped. I started this project as a distraction from my husband's deployments.
You will be amazed at the small highlights you find in your day.
@paign I just look for the beauty in the world...not only do I find Something to shoot, but often I am taken out of my own head and negative space and see More beauty in each day.
OR, conversly, I take a shot of something emotional and raw...art does not have to be about beauty.
Is your project a diary or a growth in your art? This will help you decide as well, if it a diary of sorts, then packin gboxes might be the subject...if it is a growth of your art, style and perspective, maybe an angular geometric abstract of the corner of the packing box.
I was homeless for a while in college. It's a long story really but thing is, I've seen people skate through life and land in a cushy job without ever having to struggle. I really think that I appreciate what I have now far more than they do. I feel like you'll land on your feet and in the meantime being in a new place and starting a new life might end up being for the best in the long run.
I saw someone's album the other day where each shot was something he was grateful for, I thought that was a pretty good idea. Sometimes good to consciously focus on the stuff we DO have, not always easy, but the little things can take on such significance in hard times, if you take the effort to remember them.
Along with this project, I keep a gratitude journal-- everyday I write at least 3 things that I'm thankful for-- between that project and this one-- I'm always looking for something beautiful to shoot or something that I'm grateful for and can jot down at the end of the day-- which no matter what else is going on-- keeps my head in a good space! good luck!!
