flash for canon 550d

February 11th, 2013
Guys,

Need some advise on a external flash for my canon 550d. Never used an external flash before so an pretty clueless. Have read stuff online but my brain is not processing it. I was a flash that can be used on and off camera so need remote triggering. I dont think my 550d has remote option so would need to buy a transmitter also? Want wireless also. Any pointer would be great.

Yes check out the 430exii speedlight it's a fantastic bit of kit, you can pick up some transmitters of eBay cheap. I think I paid about £17 for them but with these transmitters you have to use all the flash settings on your flash in manual mode. Your right about your 550d, I think it's the 600d and 650d and above that have the built in remote option.

also check out the Yongnuo YN 565EX TTL, (canon copies) basically a lot cheaper, they also do triggers. i have a couple that i got from ebay.

Or a long cable as some of the remote transmitters as Simon says :D only do manual flash settings.

Or buy another speedlite and use that to trigger the other one.

I use the 430EXii for my 40D, I also have it's older brother the 430ex which works just as nicely.
