A long-distance friend recently mentioned that she was getting a new tattoo and that sparked a conversation about how many we have, why we have them and whatnot. So I put together this collage of my tattoos and their explanations together for her. Then I thought that lots of my 365 friends probably have tattoos too and it would be really cool to see them and what they mean (if they mean anything).
I've got a big back piece done by a good friend of mine, he was nominated for the Turner Prize but had a stroke which put a stop to his chances. It means a lot because of our frindship and was all done freehand.
My wrist bands are all done by hand rather than gun and have a vaguely south pacific tribal feel. The wolf is a Haida symbol of strength of family.
Makes me feel like getting a new one!
I don't have one yet but I keep contemplating getting it... I want a starfish with waves lapping around the edges on the top of my right foot. It would be a reminder of the importance of true happiness and that it only takes taking a step in the right direction to be there.
I would love for my sister and I to get a branch of a cherry blossom tree on our shoulders on our back with 2 birds sitting on the branch and sisters written in Japanese(Kanji?) I have a picture of an idea i like for this on my facebook and would link but i dont think you guys would be able to see it.
I do have some tattoos, but they are places that probably don't need to be shared on 365! I'm having fun looking at everyone else's though! There's some really nice artwork here (: Cool thread, Sandra!
I have many more, but this is the only one I have a photo of on here. Maybe someday soon when I am lacking inspiration I'll make a "Collage-o-Ink" with the rest.
Some cameo appearances. On my left arm I have my family mon (crest) with blessedness in kanji. Right side is the geisha. Not pictured is my first tattoo - the Tasmanian devil holding a tequila bottle I got when I was 16 :). The lesson is wait until you're older to get your ink!
