Does the drive work at all? Does it make a grinding sound (if so, not good)?
If the drive still works, you might* be able to get your stuff back. If its making a grinding sound though, things are not so good. Are you using windows?
Without knowing a little more, I would sugget doing a google search for Recuva. It may NOT help depending on the exact problem(s).
Try talking to the admin people. perhaps they can email you or send you a link to just your database on here and you can save them.
For future reference.. two words..... Backup drive!!!!!!!
No photo I take, no dcument I create, no blurb do I utter that doesn't get copied to an external backup drive as well as my main drive.
Sorry to hear! Its seems most people learn the back up lesson the hard way. Its happened to me no less than 3x. After the first time of not backing up my stuff, I really tried to do it often. As with anything else, its easy to over look, which is when disaster strikes. Hopefully you get your stuff back.
Out of curiosity, what did they tell you was wrong (if they said anything at all)? I'm only superficially familiar with the Imac. I know that everything is integrated. Was it turning on at all? Just wondering if it was 100% the hard drive.
Alans advice is excellent. The site might be able to give you access to all your work. Good Luck!
Carlita: Not sure where or who to email... anyone know??
Anthony: grey screen, apple icon, spinning circle.. no apple bong. At the apple store, they externally hooked it up, saw my hard drive.. but disk repair was unable to repair it. That said, tech said it is 100% hdd
I am missing one day.. the day the crash happened... I was the only one taking a pic of a dead computer screen at the store... what can I say.. I got the photog fever :)
And yes, I know better to have a back up system in place. I am looking at some different options that will automatically back me up.. becuase I know me and sad but true... here I sit with few images.
