How do you get on the popular page? I LOVE one of my recent pics...and think its my best yet, though I do have a couple I am proud of, just wondering how do I get on there:O)

The popular page is a strange creature that is hard to figure out but it has to do with people favoriting and having lots of comments.
I suggest if you want people to see what you are doing to participate in this thread. You pick your best picture during the period and post it. People will be able to see it easier than on the popular page. Just keep an eye out for the threads to be started.
I don't think anyone *really* knows... because the photos there are always awesome, but they are not always "most viewed" or "most fave'd" - I've seen some there with 19 views and 1 fave... so IDK how they get picked...
I think it's a combination of views and what the monkeys are thinking. I've seen pictures with only 12 views up there and pictures with 400 views up there. I've been up there I think maybe four times. And it tickles me each time. My horsey picture from Tuesday seemed to be a hit with others.
thanks everyone, I appriciate the kind words and comments on my photo, and I missed when it was on...it was during the night:( but at least someone saw it! maybe I'll have luck with another.
@hmgphotos It definitely has something to do views, favs or comments. It clearly does - it's just that the algorithm to get to the popular page is a little more complex than that. If you get relatively many views in a short space of time you may get on there, for example. Also, Ross has said that the algorithm works by sometimes selecting lesser known work. But yes, for the most part it has to be commented a lot on and fave'd a lot. You only need to click on most of the pics to see that.
The Popular page is quite a mystery to me... I have a few shots who went up to that page. That's a wonder why they got in there, when compared to those awesome photos, mine are really nothing.
I don't want to find out how the algorithm goes but it sure does inspire me to see my photos on PP. I just have to enjoy that tiny moment of popularity. :-)

thanks for the compliment on my reflections...I mostly take pictures of my everyday life and my girls, so its rare I find something I see and take a pic of and it turns out like that did:)
One way to get your pictures more exposed is to click on someones ..one of your followers maybe or just any picture you liked on the popular page or go to browse click on day look at some pictures there. click on the one like. send them a comment or follow them and in return they might follow you. I find it's a two way street. or like you say one hand washes the other.there are so many ways really. I hope you can make sense of what I'm trying to say.
