Broken!

October 8th, 2010
Ugh...my camera appears to be broken. At f1.8, I still can't get light meter to read "0" unless I set the shutter speed to very very slow....like 2". But then...the photo is white. Too much light. Photos taken on automatic with a flash appear too light as well.

I can only trace this to a walk with my baby in a stroller, and I put the camera in the bottom of the stroller. Nothing happened! Nothing. Didn't fall, drop or anything. But from this time is when I can mark that things started to go awry. I'm thinking that maybe the camera bounced too much (this wasn't rough terrain I was walking on) on the metal bars that supported it? Or who knows...little hands might have gotten a hold of it and dropped it, though I take great pains not to have this possibility.

I'm bringing it to a camera shop today...but here's a question if anyone has any experience with this. I'm thinking the worst, like a crack inside the body that is letting in too much light. But could it be something not as bad as that? Like something loose? (I dunno...I'm a dum dum..And hopeful.). Or could it be something much more simple that is a user malfunction vs. the camera??

Ugh!! I'm soooo sad!!!

From my experience the repairs can be expensive. It seems that most of the cost is labor.
I don't know if your camera is still under warranty. Check this page for a location near you. I used the repair shop in NYC. They were really good.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Definitely not still under warranty. That's why I'm hoping it's just some weird tweak or something that needs to be tightened. It does appear to get worse the more I try it...which of course I can't help myself, LOL!!
