Hey guys!

This weekend if Thanksgiving weekend in Canada, so I would first and foremost like to say a big Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating this beautiful long weekend.

Secondly, as I sit here getting ready for dinner #1, I got to thinking about my 365 project. I looked back from when I started (New Years, January 1st) to now and reflecting upon it, I have come to realize a lot of things and I thought I'd bring it up to everyone.
I'm sure a lot of you have already thought about this so I would love to hear your thoughts.

I know that everyone one here isn't at the same place as I am, or even as the person up the street is, but my questions to you are these:

When did you start your 365 project?
Looking back from your DAY ONE picture, how do you feel you've grown as an artist/person/photographer?
And by the end of the project, what do you hope to accomplish?

And for those who have just recently started- welcome!
Where do you hope to be (photographically) in six months? And what do you hope to accomplish by the end of your 365?

I'll start!

My name is Stefanie Neves and I started my 365 project January 1st, 2010.
Looking back from day one, I've come to the realization that I've developed a lot of new techniques from January.

I feel as if I've gone outside what used to be my comfort zone and I've branched out and have tried a lot of new things.

I'm less than 100 days from being done, but by the end of the project, I hope to develop even more as an artist.

I hope to use the techniques I learn here- from other people and from other photographs- in my everyday life and apply them to my personal photography projects.

And truly, I don't think I would be here if it wasn't for many of the other amazing artists here on 365!
(I think for today, I'm going to make a thank-you video hehe, will post later!)

I began on May 8th and I'm not really sure why... I'd found the site in February and told myself to try it but it took me a few tries before I bothered. I've for sure opened my eyes more since - I notice the most bizarre things and find the beauty in them. I didn't really set out to become good at photography or anything - it was more a fun way to look back at the year but it's gotten me interested in things I've not really cared about before. It's funny though; a year after graduating highschool and still unsure of what to do with myself, I was going to apply to a photography school in South Africa, even though it didn't interest me that much... but then I decided to leave again and I'm glad I didn't do it though because at the time, I thought having to learn about DSLRs and lenses and such was a nuisance and I wasn't happy there anyway, so I wouldn't have enjoyed it.

Hi Stefanie ! I began my project on June 10 ! The one thing I've learned here is to think "outside the box" ! Some other forums I post to had me believing a shot wasn't good unless everything was just perfect...ISO....White Balance....Shutter Speed...etc. Here I learned that under or overexposed photos...ISO too high....or different White Balance allows me to get creative with my shots !! I'm glad Karen (Chevymom) turned me on to this place !!

Hey there Stefanie !! I just started my 365 Project almost 5 weeks ago. It's been a wonderful experience so far. I've "met" so many great people from all over the world !! I can't believe how much I've been inspired by everyone else on this site. They make me see things "outside of the box" (so sorry, I know that's been used over and over on here !!) but it's true !! I find myself lying on the ground now on trail to get a shot of some plant and going right up to things in a public place to get a good shot of something...sort of like I'm some kind of professional photographer and I have a right to be there...lol !!! I like the confidence that it's given me in just this short time that I've been involved. I can only see this getting better as time goes on. I find myself on many photography websites now as well as getting books at the library on different related subjects. It's great because I haven't been as excited as this about something in a long time !! I keep wondering where my "next great shot" is going to be...I'm seldom ever without my camera anymore !! Thank you to my niece Becky who I found out about this site through (and Picnik too !) I'm enjoying learning more about photography and not to be afraid of what I'm shooting....if I take enough pics....a few of them are going to be really good and those I can share with you all here !!

*Technically*, I started the project on April 11th. However, I added some photos from the past... and... well, whatever. xD
I don't think it's quite fair to judge how much I've grown by my "first" *April 11th* photo. It was taken with a cell phone, and I didn't have a camera until the 18th. And, since the 18th, I have developed my own "style" of photography. I've learned to photograph things that I wouldn't have thought of before. I also have learned a lot of technical stuff since then.
I don't really know what I hope to accomplish by this. I think that I might just want to prove to myself that I CAN stick to something for an entire year.

Hi Stefanie,

I started the project on the 16th May 2010,the day I bought my camera.

I have learnt so much, when I first started I use to shoot in auto or scene mode all the time.I knew nothing about shutter speed or aperture let alone ISO. I've actually surprised myself, can't believe how much I now understand about my camera.

I now try different ideas that I never would have thought of previously.
Most of all I have realised just how much I love photography and how much it excites me.

I still have so much to learn, but I think of it as an exciting adventure.
I just hope that by the end of my project I will have more confidence in myself and my photography.

Heya, I started my project on 10th April 2010, my 24th birthday. A couple of my friends have done similar things and I wanted to try and see if I could do it too. My project is kind of a documentation of my 24th year of life. I don't really know if I have improved my skills that much, but I didn't really do it for that as much. I wanted to do something that would have a target and a focus for a year, so I would be able to look back and reflect on the year whatever happens.

I have found that I notice much more of the little details in life, things I never really considered before. Throughout my day I often think, I could take a photo of that for my project. By broadening my view, this project has really taught me to be more thankful of the little things, especially in nature, my friends and family.

I hope my photographic skills will develop through the year, but an increase in skill will come as an extra to all the other great things about my project and being part of the community on here.

Well, I started this as a recommendation from a friend in Decmeber 2009. I was in a job transition 6 moths prior to that, moved to a different state, and left my family behind to test the waters. The end result is that I am no longer in that state, no longer with that job, and no longer married. 3 strikes?

This is somewhat of an outlet for me, and as my life has changed, as I feel for the positive, and I back on track in a new adventure. I actually ceased my old project, and started a new one in July. I felt it better to have a new beginning on all fronts.

I use this as a photojournal or a mood definer. I dedicate it to my girlfriend. Metaphorically, I slip something into each image or explanation that is meant just for her, and only she would understand. She is my strength right now, also my new beginning, and my inspiration. It's all good, isn't it?
