SOOC

I'm quite new here, and I see people using the term SOOC alott. Just wondering... what does it stand for, and what does it mean?

SOOC = Straight Out of the Camera -- no editing.

Ah. Makes sense haha thank youu.

yup Ashley beat me to it!

Great question...I was wondering the same thing earlier then I googled it ;)

I'm a purist so I WANT ppl to know when it's sooc and give it merit for THAT quality. Jump on the bandwagon and tag your sooc images that way, thus purists can comment in the RAW talent not the creative manipulated talent (cause as you already know from my images and comments I SUCK at it)

@bethanylynn Thank you for asking....I've been on here about 5 weeks now and have been wondering that myself !!! I will start tagging photos with SOOC if I've done no editing.

oh sweet! I didn't know that! Lots of my pics are SOOC. I'll have to tag them. @misschuff I totally agree that the raw talent is something that should be praised!

@misschuff The vast majority of my photos are SOOC but I forget to tag them as such. =\ Maybe I will go back through some time. =)

I find it disturbing that pure, unedited photos have to be labeled as such. Shouldn't it be the other way around?
October 13th, 2010
I rarely tag mine but a majority of mine are SOOC. Although I love some of the things I see people do with photoshop, I really love to see exactly what the camera saw... you know?

I think there are different kinds of talent - being able to take a good picture straight out of the camera, and being able to manipulate it to your vision. Neither is better than the other. I'm not good at either, but I am working on it.

We should praise the picture no matter how you managed to get a good one.

Even in the days of film the best photographers manipulated their images by dodging and burning in the darkroom, now we can do it digitally using Photoshop or Lighroom. What's the difference? As long as I create my vision, should it matter? For example, what if I take a picture of a landscape and, because cameras' sensors aren't good enough to recreate the tones I can see with my eye, I have to post-process to recapture what was missing in the original image?

@vikdaddy - I know, my non purist brother keeps on telling me that but I am jealous of all the TALENTED manipulations - because I suck at it - and so want ppl to give me credit for the awesomeness I manage to get (sometimes) sooc.

@timandkelke - I think so! lets start a revolt and enforce your thinking. lol like that's going to happen!

So I'll keep on clicking and doing my best, lable them sooc, even if I've put together a montage, as I've NOT manipulated the image, only put several together AND try to learn this darn CS5. Trouble is I'm a writer not a visual artist - I think I failed art at school!!!!

LOL
