Why You Should Back Up Your Photos Anally And Religiously

October 16th, 2010
Hi folks, and espeically my followers. Another quiet pause from me and an apology for not commenting on your stuff - this is due to my desktop computer having a complete meltdown. You'll get some clues from a few of my recent photos. I've had all manner of men into fix it and it's currently on life support; boot drive is dead, secondary data drive is about to die. I haven't been able to use the laptop because I do a bit of fixing and jiggery pokery in Photoshop which is on the grown-up computer (hmm, that's no excuse for me to not comment though, I've just realised!).

Anyway, I need to get a new rig sooner rather than later so everything will hopefully be back to normal for the final 100 metre dash to the end of the year and the end of the project! Wow, it's come round so quickly.

I haven't missed a day's shooting and I haven't lost any photos as I back up onto external drives and CD-Roms, so I've got lots of good pics waiting in the wings for you! :o)

Needless to say, see all of the above as to why you should ALWAYS back up your stuff.

Back up anally? Hmm.

Sorry, that was too easy.

I back up my laptop which includes my photos WEEKLY. Even that may not be enough.

$4.99 a month for live file back-ups off site... saves me $1000 each year...

I backup hourly with Time Machine to my Time Capsule, but the off-site option is really better incase of a fire or if someone breaks in and steals all your equipment.
