A question about older photos?

October 30th, 2010
So, just a question? I started my Project 365 on my Facebook page about 3 months ago, and just recently started on here..so my question is: should I, or can I, upload all the way back to when I started this photography project for my account here, or do older photgraphs not count? I have a few older ones I really like..and that were taken with my little point and shoot--which is better than my current "camera"--my phone! :) Has anyone else synced their accounts up? Thanks in advance!

I started on here about a week in and uploaded all of my photos from the beginning of the project, don't know if that helps? :) x

Yeah there's nothing to stop you uploading backdated stuff :)

@lilimoon
I noticed some people recently uploaded photographs dated from 2007,too,so I guess you can.And you can even upload a ten year old photo,as todays photo,allthough that would be,in a way,cheating :)

I think you are asking if you can go back to the start of your project and load photos from that date.. not just "older photos" I read that you got your 365 profile 3 months ago, but didn't really start to add photos until just the last couple of weeks.
Yes you can, if there is a date from last month that does not have a photo in it, you can add to that spot. if you look at your calendar, you will know which dates you have missed.. I screwed up a date once and was off by a day, which made it impossible to load on the correct date because that spot was taken, I just went to that photo , and clicked the edit button and changed to the correct date and was able to load again for the correct dates.... so to answer your q, yes you can. and how you choose to use your project is up to you. some people are purest and will take a photo everyday, even if they are not happy with it and load it... some people load up weekly, due to family / work / life getting in the way of their project. lol some people do it randomly. I mostly post daily. but there have been time when I have used a "filler" photo, meaning the photo was taken not on that date. when I do that I normally indicate, in some way that it is not of that date. again some people are purist and would not do that, and that's wonderful for them, but I work . and have a child, and sometimes do not get the chance to even look at my camera. Hope my long winded ramble has answered your q..

All of the above applies. it doesn't matter what day you upload as long as it's in the past. by late or early evening you can upload already the one for the next day . I think your pictures are counted from 1 to 365 no matter when you uploaded them. I made mistakes at the beginning and couldn't find my picture so I checked the calender and found out that I uploaded lets say 2-3 month past today's date..they take it and that's where I finally found it. so make sure you look at the date already printed in your upload and change it to the correct one. I hope this clears up a little confusion.

Ok! Thanks for your responses! Sounds like its ok to upload my pictures for this project as I started it, then...when I catch up, I'll keep it purist by loading daily pics only. I'm so glad to have joined this community--not only helpful, interesting people, but some SERIOUS talent and an amazing sources of inspiration. I look forward to checking out more pictures from members as time allows.

I've started to go back and added in older photos, and plan on going back to 2005 once I get the time. I don't see anything wrong with it! And of course I'm still uploaded a new photo daily.

The day I decided to start 365 I dropped my camera. My back-up camera was already out of action due to a house move. I'd never expected to use my phone camera and probably threw away the lead needed to download photos so have to send them by email to my PC in an compressed to oblivion state. My camera worked sporadically after the drop but only with a 70mm-300mm lens as the standard 50mm lens broke completely in the fall. This other lens couldn't shoot on high F stops due to lens damage from my time in the desert. Finally, the camera has packed up all together, so my uploads have been a mix, and being broke as I am at the very early stages of building up a business, I can't replace the camera. Hopefully insurance will cover it but it will take weeks. However, I feel really bad at not putting up daily shots. It is soooo much harder to do that than selecting from your existing photographs, and I so respect those that do, and understand if they feel erked at my doing it this way for now. However, I know if I stop the 365 project, I probably won't start again - life gets in the way. So I hope that people will make allowances for my uploading old shots. Feeling very guilty about it but have received tremendous support.
