Disabling ad for camera?

November 4th, 2010
I just noticed the link on my page to purchase the camera used on Amazon. I would much prefer not to have any commercial content (or links to it) on my page.

Is there a way I can disable this, either for pics already posted or future ones? I suppose this would mean somehow not allowing the info about how the pic was taken to be sent along with the pic. I use iPhoto. Any suggestions?

@becky
It`s a new feature,that most people seem to like.For me,it`s simply useless info,because I could allready check the camera type with wich the photos were taken.
Maybe the guy behind the website needs some $, therefore,we get a link to Amason.com ,where it could have been a simple wikipedia info-link instead.
I honestly find to reason to complain about it.But I`m pretty sure "the boss" will reply you,sooner or later.

I don't really see the issue to be honest, it could be extra revenue for Ross. The fact it is a free site to all, the least most members can do is go Ace to support the development of the site rather then complaining.

I strip most of the exif data from my photos I post online... just cause I am funny like that... hence there is no camera ad on my photos if it really bugs you... do the same...

PS I don't mean to strip the data, my work flow does it and I cannot be bothered to add it back...

@icywarm PSE6 does the stripping for me, so I add the date taken and watermark just before posting. Also add GPS and direction if a single image. Haven't tested to see if the GPS is still there, but I try.

@byrdlip you are a better man than I... LR3 takes mine... the infor is there in the original for me when I want it... but for the rest of the world... sigh I guess they will have to do without ;)

PS as to everyone complaining... I hope you at least have your ace memberships paid up...

@becky I think that this is a great way for the site to possibly generate some new revenues! The money needs to come from somewhere. As free members we are blessed with the fact that this site is not littered with ads and pop-ups :)

@becky Why care so much?

Ross has to fund the site somehow, take a chill pill. :)

I didn't see this as a complaint so much as asking for advice on how to modify my own settings. I didn't jump into the threads of people who liked the change and try to argue that they should feel otherwise ... for those who like ads, enjoy ... personally I really like having a little noncommercial space.

In terms of this funding the site, I think I can definitively say that nobody is going to buy a camera based on which one I am using! :)

Ace membership allows advert-free browsing.. and exactly what you're after!

I agree, as Ross runs this site from his backroom, any allowance for extra revenue to help hm out and means he can continue with this project is fine with me...

I think it is funny people keep bringing this up. I had no clue what everyone was talking about. Took me forever to find out where it was. I really don't think it is that noticeable but maybe thats just the blonde in me.
