LOVING my new lens!

November 9th, 2010
I JUST bought a new lens today - a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM.... I have only taken 10-ish pictures with it, but I already LOVE it!! Thanks to those of you who recommended a 50mm as my second lens =) I would love any hints you might have to help me make the most of my purchase....

I'm with kyla on this one, i could only afford the 1.8 - but it's still a great lens. 50mm is lots of fun for portraits (it's basically an ideal portrait lens) so i say grab a friend and start taking some portraits.

OMG!!! I so want one too! I've been shopping around for one and I'm hoping that Santa would leave me one under the tree this Christmas...

I had been thinking of this lens for awhile... and was considering it as a "santa-wish-list" item... but I had decided I didn't really need it, so it could wait for some other time. THEN a friend of mine had to go and ask me to do senior pictures for her son! LOL - and, thats all the excuse I needed to justify an early purchase... I got my DSLR last year about this time, so I could get used to it before Christmas - and this year, I will have had plenty of time to get used to my new lens before Christmas morning pix!

I am going on a field trip to a camera store with my class and I think I might try and pick one of these up. My daughter has it and just loves it.

Congrats! That lens lived on my last camera permanently until I retired it!

Great lens but a bit too close on a crop body, in my opinion. Now the 28 or 35mm prime would be my choice...
