Chicago

We will be in Chicago next week for 5 nights. Our son will be attending the midwest conference (music) and they always bring us along to babysit. We will be staying at the embassy suites "lakefront" 2 blocks from the Navy Pier. As is typical this pricey hotel charges a fortune (14.95) a day for wireless. So I am wondering about places nearby that I can use my netbook to upload photos and look at photos etc, for free or a reasonable price. Any ideas? Thanks.

usually coffee shops around downtown area all have free wifi. since I live in chicago, i never have to use wireless service outside of my home, my office, so i'm probably not a big help here :)

Yes, Starbucks and other coffee houses and whatnot usually have free wifi. Or a library or something like that!
I live near Chicago, and I love going there. I hope you have a good time!

My, how things change. I have stayed at this hotel previously when attending conferences at The Gleacher Center. It used to be free.

I guess Hilton needs more money.

According to sites I have found on the web, Panera Bread is a good place and there is one two blocks from the hotel. Have to admit, I am a much bigger fan of Panera than Starbucks.

Thanks for the comments.

If you have a bluetooth phone you could alway tether your laptop to it - doesn't cost a thing that way.

@rossco088 That is a great suggestion. How would I do that, if I may ask?
