Monitor Calibration

Have you ever calibrate your monitor?

if you do, what method do you use,
any recommendation on software or hardware for good result with not too much $$$?

I'm planning to calibrate my monitor for photography or cgi purpose...

spyder 3.... it is good for making monitor profiles for printing...

I also use the Spyder3 Pro / Elite. Fantastic - easy to use, and accurate.

I use Spyder 3 as well (at least on my desktop). I need to get ahold of one again to do my laptop...
