Gorillapods and heads

December 28th, 2010
@jo365 @kjarn - Here you go the discussion and links as promised.

I really want to play with a Manfrotto 241V but until I can swing it I'm considering a Gorillapod.

Because of my pic ( http://365project.org/misschuff/365/2010-12-28) and the mention of buying it I thought I'd throw this up with the links I found.

I'm in Australia so some is for us Aussie's and some are possible purchase opps from other countries and some is just pricing info ...

If anyone has experience with them or other links can you be kind and put it up here too? Thanks.

P.S. I've not yet worked out which best suits my Canon 5D but thinking of the SLR - Zoom.

Vivitar has a similar item called the spider but not too sure about it - liken it to Inca tripod quality from viewing it NOT using it.

Places I found to buy them online at pretty darn good prices (not comprehensive):

Thanks for that Carlita. I don't have an SLR (yet) so will be going for the magnetic one for compact cameras but when I get an SLR I'd be tempted to go for the SLR zoom one. I had a look at all the different types and was also impressed with the torch one.

Now to find the best price!

Thankyou, I think the slr zoom will be on my birthday wish list

Hi Carlita. I want to get the Gorillapod SLR-Zoom, also, and hope to do that very soon. I have a basic tripod right now, but have my eye on a wonderful Manfrotto tripod and head, too, which I'll get down the road, when I can do it. I have heard great things about the Gorillapod, and can't wait to get it!

@camarobabe great - glad to be of service ... paying it forward. I recently purchased a manfrotto 190xb with a 494RC2 mini ball head ... thinking I should have gone for the next size up as with my 150mm Simga it still moves somewhat ...
but looking at the gorillapod for wrapping around things when doing action pix
