Exif data

January 16th, 2011
For the life of me I can't figure out why my images don't have any exif data. Suggestions?

Thanks!

i dont know if this is right but apparently if u "save for web" instead of save or save as it strips the data off

or some editing programs remove it too once youve edited the photo ?

How are you getting your images from your camera to this website, exactly? What's the step-by-step process?

apparently (and im not sayin this is 100 perecnt right ) but i heard it strips that info from the file when u save for web so that it makes the file as small as possible ...... i dont know all the ins & outs its just what i heard / read :)

@celly525 It is indeed Save for Web. In order to make the file size as absolutely small as possible it tweaks the compression ratios and loses the EXIF data. Instead of using Save for Web when you have finished your photo, just use Save As and save it as a .jpg.

However, there is another possibility: the camera may not record EXIF data. Almost all digital point and shoots and DSLR's since about 2005 record EXIF data automatically now, but older ones do not. What kind of camera are you using?
