I am interested in memory cards too...I have two of thes:
Lexar Professional Series 8 GB 300x UDMA CompactFlash Memory Card
I had one as a back up that had never been used...and when I recently took some photos for a friend the pics turned out jumbled. I was told that I needed to re-format the disk periodically...sort of makes me nervous about using it...
other than that I had no problems with the first one I used and it holds LOTS of pictures! Which is great...
look into an eye fi card if you can afford/find one. They use wireless to transfer photos from you camera to your computer. Never need to worry that you forgot to put your card back in your camera.
If I don't need that I have a couple of 16 GB San Disk Extreme II that I have never had a problem with. I like the 16 GB size, because it will hold about 300 RAW files, which happens to be about what I shoot between battery charges. So if I am out for a day of shooting. I take 600 photos, swap SD cards and batteries and continue for the evening/afternoon. The batteries are not dead at 600, but better safe than sorry.
I posted a really similar discussion earlier, and I have the same camera. Based on the feedback, most say go with SanDisk 4GB. Some say purchase the ULTRA; The speed on it is suppose to be quicker, but others say its unnecessary.. And the reason for the 4GB is people loose them and break them, and instead of loosing ALL your poor photos, you still have other memory cards with shots on them
I have a 16GB Kingston Technologies SD card that holds 5,000+ JPEGS, around 1,000 RAW, and about 800 RAW/JPEGS. This card certainly should do the trick for just about anyone :) They sell for around $30 US.
@icywarm oh I so need an eye fi card! I always forget to take the memory card out of my laptop after uploading LOL..
I just have a 2GB SanDisk, which works fine since I never take more than 15 or 20 photos before I upload (at which point I move the pics to my computer). And today I discovered that, using the adapter it came with, I can also use my phone's microSD card! So now I have a backup (until I decide I need it back in my phone!).
