To all the 365ers in Far North Queensland, ESPECIALLY my daughter, Jessica, my thoughts are with you today as Cyclone Yasi hits your region. Stay safe.
Will be praying for the residents of that area! I will say a special prayer for your daughter- I hope she is alright. I'll be thinking of you and your family as I'm sure you are worried for her. Hugs
My thoughts and prays are with u all , so not fair for u guys to be copping it again for a third time im 5 weeks. Hope u all are safe with ur family and friends xxx
This is the last thing anyone in Queensland, or any other part of Australia, needs to see. I'm hoping this storm has minimal impact, and wishing everyone a safe passage through the storm.
It's all just a waiting game for now.. till tonight. then it goes through. fingers crossed its not too bad. thanks for the well wishes. At times like these, I hate being a single parent..
@vaderkip@robynelizabeth I have been thinking of everyone there all day! I am sending positive thoughts to all of them. I cant imagine with your daughter being there how nerve wrecking it must be. I am from MS Gulf Coast and we do not take these things lightly. Everyone of them will be in my thoughts tonight.
@vaderkip near the river, but out pretty far.. hopefully pretty safe place. they said on the news only 5 hrs to go.. gee such a waiting game.. and they making it look scarey on the news..
Getting a bit gusty in Townsville now, but I reckon we'll be alright. The storm surge will be the worst part of it down here. Koshi's mum is down from Innisfail, which is almost exactly where it is due to cross over (and which got wiped out by a cyclone three years ago). Safer here, we reckoned.
Hoping everyone stays safe, i can't believe we've had fires, floods and now one of the largest ever cyclones about to hit australia all under 2 mths.
Come on mother nature give us all a break.
@robynelizabeth We'll be alright here mate. The flooding is the thing that's going to cause problems, and if you're in Riverside or the Upper Ross area you won't get much of that. I'm near Holy Spirit school, and I know we'll be high and dry here. Common sense will get us all through. :)
@jinximages@vaderkip yeah I know.. at least I am not where it is at it's worst. Just hate being in a house just me and kids.. even though they are older now which is good, they are still only kids. but all good. thanks
I'll pray for you and hope you're all in a safe place to sit it out. I think the waiting is the worst. I hope to hear from you on the other side of this. We're all in Gods hands.
I am glad you started this thread as I was thinking of letting all 365 members who have family or friends, ( or indeed live there themselves ) in Queensland, know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and, if possible to let us know what the situation is when you get a chance. .
@jinximages - Kelso mate, and power went out a 5pm. I have checked with Ergon and they say that they'll check on the matter once Yasi has visited Mt Isa.
@vaderkip - the wind has stepped up a notch Mr Vaderkip, I hope your daughter has secure lodgings for the night.... the sound of splintering Eucalypt is prominent in the suburbs tonight!
we have had sustained winds of 70kph with gusts to 104kph. I have not checked on the waves, I'm hopefully far enough away from the beach. But my office... ai ai ai!
@jinximages Glad to hear that Jinx - really glad. Can you tell me how Annersley is faring. I have friends there and I haven't had a response to my email.
@miranda - 35,000 homes are out of power in Townsville. The winds are now finally getting the right side of TC Yasi, ENEerlys but still gusting at over 100kph.
@vaderkip - Powerlines are down and across the road, but some people feel the need to get out and drive!!! Hope they are emergency service workers or something???
A lot of tree damage to my garden, but we will sort that out, I think I now have the space for a lime tree :)
oh and thanks for all the warm words of support from the 365 community, you guys helped add a smile to the face of this scared little guy... I just wanna take photos of bugs and frogs... not get blown off the planet!
@bobfoto hi..safe and sound, just no power at my place yet. at my mums home who got power on today.. yeah thought it silly that there were people in cars soon after.
@robynelizabeth - good news to hear you're okay... still no power here. there is a power pole down across the road and while that is horizontal I guess no power for me.
@bobfoto Just saw the news about Yasi going through.. as just got the power back late this arvo.. and we are so lucky in Townsville, terrible up north. so glad that it is finally over though., wasn't a very pleasant experience.
@robynelizabeth@vaderkip - we got off lightly Robyn. I cut up a tree across the road for the lady that lives there so that she could have access to her driveway today and she says Yasi was worse than Althea!!!
@misschuff yes thanks. Minimal damage mainly to the trees and still without power but all good. Apparently, she slept through most of it !!! Unlike her Dad :-)
@vaderkip Good to hear. My mother is at Charters Towers ... they went to collect friends from T'ville, their car broke down and remained in the evacuated house on the creek ... still no word re the damage ... but no news is good news. They got back to CT and had wind, rain and branches but all safe.

Come on mother nature give us all a break.
I believe winds are getting up to 100kph and waves upto 9.6m in Townsville.
The world is going to be a mess when the sun gets up later...
Its been a windy ol' night!
A lot of tree damage to my garden, but we will sort that out, I think I now have the space for a lime tree :)
And please, I hope @jinximages @robynelizabeth reply soon. It would be good to hear they are safe.
