Brazilian sister deported from Spain

February 3rd, 2011
Hello all
It really looks like the planet has been kind of hell lately.
While I am new to the community, I have been following how supportive everybody is here.
My sister was deported from Spain without no reason last January 28, 2011. She was locked in a room for 15 hours, treated like a criminal and the Spanish police laugh at her when she said she was not going to sign any document making a joke "why not, are you going to try to contest it?"
Hurt, desolated and humiliated, she was sent back home. She had money, round ticket, reserve in the hotel made by her 60 year old friend (who was in the hotel in Madrid waiting for her). She also had copies of the document that the government gave her to prove she works, had the copy that she owns her car, is a researcher for the university and owns a home, had the insurance required, and they just plain said: we already decided we are going to deport you no matter what. She contacted the embassy while in the airport when they let her (more than 7 hours after she was LOCKED, and there was nothing that could change the situation
Back to Brazil, she went to the authorities in Brasilia, capital of Brazil, and filed an official complain about discrimination and being disrespected and treated like a dog.
The case was all over the news today. It was her first vacations to Europe. She has visited all South America, she travels a lot for work, and she said she had never been treated so badly in her life like this. She is devastated.
The news was in the newspapers:
O Globo, Folha de Sao Paulo, Terra
Jornal do Brasil: http://jb.com.br/pais/noticias/2011/02/01/pesquisadora-da-unb-tem-entrada-barrada-na-espanha/

Correio do Povo: http://www.correiodopovo.com.br/Impresso/?Ano=116&Numero=125&Caderno=0&Editoria=110&Noticia=252812

Zero Hora
among others.
She sent this to the midia (in Portuguese): http://www.viomundo.com.br/voce-escreve/a-pesquisadora-que-foi-expulsa-da-espanha.html

It was also many academic blogs and there was some national news on tv tonight.
We are trying to bring attention to the case because of xenophobia happening in Spain.
I am sure many of the good people in Spain would also like to have their name clean, because it is not their fault of the bad tings happening in the airports in Spain.
The video is in Portuguese, but I know some Spanish speaking will be able to follow. You can hear in her voice how emotional she was in telling her story:

I would appreciate anybody here posting this information in your facebook accounts or just alerting other people.
Thank you sooooo much.

Appalling! So glad your sister is home and safe, but this really makes you think about visiting other countries. Frightening.

Thank you for your comments.

I have been taking pictures, but havent posted since the last week was very different for my family. We are all trying to gather everything in the news about this case.

Yesterday, the Ambassador of Spain in Brazil sent a letter to the pressm and my sister sent a letter in response to his letter, but it is not in the printed press yet.

The university in which she is a reseracher put in their news her entire letter to the Amabassador of Spain in Brazil, Dr Carlos Alonso Zaldivar, in their website, as many other websites have [ublisehd them as well.

Brazil has not said anything to the news yet about the Ambassadors's lies.

If it is like it always is, nothing is going to happen.

For those who speak Portuguese, the letter Denise Severo wrote to the Ambassador and sent to the press is here:

I will post images in the next few days. I am waiting the visit of my dad tomorrow :)
