I have been on 365 for about 3 weeks and just recently created 2 more albums. I wonder if anyone is using 2 or 3 albums everyday, and how do you use them?
Also, do you find that using more than 1 can be a little...confusing?
I use all three. My main one for the 365 project itself (ie a shot for each calendar day). The other two I use if I've got any other decent shots from the day or if I've got a load of stuff I like from one particular day (the recent 365 meet up in London being an example). I tend to link them all up too.
I currently use only two of them, the other one is a 'notquite365' album for pics I wanted to post but wasn't the best one of the day in my opinion.
I'm considering starting a themed project and use the 3rd album for it. Not sure what yet, maybe an 'elephants' album or a photograph of the same scene throughout they year... Hmmmm...
So far I'm only using one. Initially I was going to keep them and use them for three separate years of 365 but now I may start to use my second for themes - haven't quite decided yet.
I use one for 365, my second for what I call Others & Comps (extra photos for that day) and competition shots. The third is my themed folder. I don't know how to edit or delete that third one as I only have 2 in it.
I like the idea of saving the other two albums for 2012 and 2013 but then again it makes me feel very uncomfortable to plan that far ahead. I am considering using one of the albums for shots of the past as a seperate project, but I'm not sure yet.
I definitely won't run a parallel 2011 album as that would interfere with the idea behind my 365project: choosing one single shot every day.
I have a spare album....don't use it every day...but love having it on the rare occasion that I have more than one picture I like. I gave the second album a name to keep it clear in my mind.
Question: I understand why in the 365 album each photo has to have a separate date, but I'm having to put arbitrary dates on the pics I upload to my other albums. Is there a way around this? My other albums are for me to put whatever I want in them, right? Maybe I'm missing something here, but I haven't figured out how to upload pics to my other albums without having to select a date that isn't part of my 365 album. I hope that makes sense. I'm not quite awake.
@otprofsp Not sure if this answers your question. When you upload photo, you have to select 2 things (1) date, then (2) album. Do you also select different album when you upload the photos?
I started with just my 365 album. When I became and ACE member, I was excited to have two more!!! I wasn't sure how to use them at first either. I made my second album my "B sides" album and use it for my second fave photo of the day. Then, I just recently made my third album "ABCS" finding letters in every day objects. I maybe should have titled it something else though, so I am not so piegeon-holed. Maybe just EXTRAS themes, ideas, contests, etc.
I use one for 2010, one for 2011, and one for Alternates on days when I'm lucky enough to get two photographs I'd like to share. If I do the project again in 2012, I'll probably make my Alternates album 2012.
I've been considering upgrading to ace membership, to add additional shots from each day, but because I don't want to dilute the single-pic-a-day aspect of the project, I'm probably going to simply link to a free photo blog instead, where I put my daily outtakes. I'm trying to think how or why I could use 3 albums well ... and haven't come up with a good enough way or reason yet.
I use all 3... I've got my main 365. Some days I just post one pic to that one. I've got a second album called "more" in case I have 2 ideas I can't pass up, or if I do a theme pic and then one of my own choosing.
Then I have a 3rd album dedicated to my little booger. It's called "jaxman" which is sort of a spin off of his nickname jacfish or jax...or all the million things we call him. I like having this one, don't necessarily post to it daily, but it's so fun to go back and look just 3 months ago at how different he looked! Like my own little memory book.
Also I just want to add that there's so much more to the ace membership than just having 3 albums. In fact, I know of several ace users that don't even use those other 2 albums.
The first, and IMO the most important, is the support of the site that we all love and are addicted to. It helps Ross keep the site up and running, allowing him to have the domain and the bandwidth to keep all of us being able to upload these millions of photos which take up God knows how much space. Also having an ace membership gives you extra features like tracking who faves your photos, which I like so I can thank those specific people as well for that, and also certain stats such as your most viewed photos each day, and of all time, as well as your most popular of all time. It's a wonderful thing for such a little price to invest.
@viranod Yes. I've got my 365album, which is the default, and a Susan's Pics album. I choose the Susan's Pics for my other photos, but it still asks for a different date for each pic.
I use 2. I started with 3 then deleted the third one as I wasn't producing as many pics every day as I would like so my aim is to produce one photo daily. The second album is used for if I do take more than one photo or competitions. If I don't use a space I add a filler.
