Stop Theft

February 11th, 2011
A lot of you have participated in, or at least noticed, the "More stolen images on Popular Page" thread. I got to thinking about why this woman didn't find a photo that inspired her, then use it to create her own instead of outright thieving one from someone else.

Then today, when I came across these adorable Converse One Stars, I couldn't resist using them for a thief-inspired shot. Anyone else care to join me in making lemonade from stolen lemons? Tag yours "stoptheft" (Yes, I'm aware that this won't do a thing to *actually* stop theft) -- Here's mine:

Happy shooting!

Edited to Add: As suggested by the lovely and talented @filo13, you should make sure to include an elaborate story, or at least a description, of how you were inspired to create the shot, details of how you accomplished it, etc. etc. You know, for the authenticity ;)

love this idea and love the entries into it so far hmmm how to do this with snow on the ground wonders if people would get made if I went to a parking garage and drew in chalk would that be considered vandalism of public property?
Maybe I can come up with a snow one ;)

I don't see anything wrong with using a photo for inspiration so we can learn. But do your own and make it different.

@miata2u Exactly! That's what it's all about.

@relicsong The snow made it tough for me, too. I got a bunch of different shots, but all of them had nasty, dirty, melting snow. I finally moved to my porch :) The neat thing that comes out of having been annoyed by a thief is that now I have some other chalk ideas I'm dying to try!
February 12th, 2011
@relicsong perhaps you could use food dyes or water colors on the clean snow?
February 12th, 2011
@ashleyjwilson This is a fabulous idea! I'm gonna have to think up something for tomorrow! I love the thief-inspired shots so far. You are brilliant for thinking of this!!!

@weshook Smart idea! I would not have thought of that. @kimshawball Aw, thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing more thief-inspired shots from this brilliant community.

Just came up with an idea but already posted my pic for the day so I will have to do tomorrow!

I hate the idea of stealing or copying a photo but I also see so many wonderful shots and say " I want to do that!". I would like to see a theme sometime where a shot or shots are presented and we do a "copy cat" photo. Have the original give details on how to take the shot and instructions on post processing. I think there are many people on here that would give their time and experience to lead this and hopefully there are more like me that would participate and soak up the information like a sponge.

@michaelpage - We did that in an art class I took once. We would be given a famous painting and try to duplicate it. Was kinda fun!

@michaelpage That's a great idea.
