Please Help if this Lens is Worth Buying and I will buy it. Thanks

Good Day once again friends,
I just want to consult this lens if this is worth buying and what it can do. I had just bought a new lens yesterday which is the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 at a very very low price, which i actually consulted here in 365project and now I'm beginning to love it.
Now there is another lens which is on sale for 190 dollars which is the Nikkor AF Zoom 70-300mm f/4-5.6 G. I have the Nikon D5000, I'm quite pretty sure that this is not Auto focus for my D5000. That would be ok since I'm used to it using the manual focus.
Is this lens worth buying for my D5000? what does this lens could offer?with this range of mm, how far it could go when quality of photos are concerned? does anyone use this and i would really appreciate to see some photos using this in manual focus.

Dubai shopping Festival really offer some low sales, I'm just wondering and want to know that could it be this Lens is not good or old model that's why their lowering the prices.

Please need some advice, point of views and recommendation for this lens.

Thanks for the time helping me.

@blueburn11 :-) I believe this is the same lens that I was asking about replacing in my post "Telephoto Lens". Given the price, I'm actually happy with up to about 150mm @ F8-F16. In fact I really love the 70mm-100mm range. But personally, after 200mm I really don't care for it. I believe it needs a camera with an autofocus motor in it, but the manual focus works well. I often take it off auto, and use manual.

So if your looking for clairity over 200mm, I would say skip it. If your looking for a cheap 70-150ish range, then go for it. But don't expect to get the sharpness of the 50mm 1.8 from this lens.

@blueburn11
we have pretty much the same circumstances so i would like to give you an opinion about the Nikkor 70-300 G.

i have this lens (came with the camera my dad bought from Dubai, coincidentally) , and honestly, i took 2 shots and stored it in the drybox. it is a dirt cheap lens which could see some pretty good use in a camera with an in-body motor, but i have the D3000 which doesn't have it (essentially the same as yours).

manual focusing with the 50mm is not much of an effort (fun even) but it is a whole different story with the 70-300 zoom. at maximum zoom (300) the lens itself isn't so sharp so it is quite a problem discerning focused/out-of-focused areas. plus, at this zoom position, every bit of vibration is magnified several times. so you can use this in the perfect light, and on a tripod--but how many times do you actually have those two factors sync for you? so i thought i wouldn't have much use for it. and it seems a lot of people echo my concerns.

my suggestion is to get the 55-200... it might cost more, but the quality of images and the functionality you can get out of it will be pretty much worth it. the extra 100mm of zoom is negligible, for me.

hope that helps. :D

@blueburn11 You can find plenty of shots using this lens at
http://photos.consultxg2.com/index.php?album=les-midis-sunlife-2010

All photos have an image info link that will allow you to view the focal length. So you can be the judge.

@blueburn11 If it's in the budget I would look at the ED version instead of the G version of the 70mm - 300mm.

@blueburn11 Don't know much about the D5000, so I cannot help your there. The D50 does have the focus motor. I probably used manual focus on about 75% of the shots with that lens, in those examples.
