alright so i have an Apple Mac and i was on my grandmas PC before and noticed some of my shots look very different and change the photo quite a bit. the most obvious was this one...
what do you guys see, is it a silhouette or can you see the facial features of my 2 friends...?
I've noticed that. On my laptop, often pics on here look desaturated compared to how I edited them, but on our PC the colours are fin!
I can see the faces, it's not quite silhouette.
I can see a lot of details on my Dell 17" Notebook backlit screen on all brightness levels. For example her eyelashes, the side of her cheek, the line of his chin. Seems the extra 50€ over the standard screen were well invested :-)
I can see vague details if I really strain, but to a casual glance they're straight silhouettes.
Technically speaking, there are distinct differences in how OS-X and Windows handle colour (that I'm only briefly aware of myself) and the bottom line is there's no way to guarantee something being reproduced identically across both systems - not even factoring in calibration differences between each individual monitor.
all facial features on my screen, most of the colors too. Like i can tell what pattern the girls shirt is. Really beautiful picture either way though :)
@marshy15 It may not be the computer that is the issue, but the monitor you are using. I am looking at an acer screen right now and can see some facial features (a bit dark). And trust me that should not be better than the screen of a mac.
Have you tried callibrating your monitor yet? I took a summer class at an art school and that was the first thing they said we needed to do, even before we pulled out our cameras.
I agree with Paula, calibrate your monitor!! I have a Macbook pro 15'' and I see features (eyelashes, ear, shirt patterns, her hand and bracelets). I think its beautiful this way though, don't think I would have preferred the full silhouette.
Silhouette with my screen tilted back and I can plainly see all the features and patterns on their clothing with screen tilted forward. Two for the price of one so can't be bad :o)
iPad - Mostly silhouettes. I can see some detail of his eye if I concentrate. I never stopped to think that photographs would show differently on different machines. Weird.
I have a Gateway One (touchscreen). When I look at it sort of from above, like when I sit up really straight, I can definitely see their facial features. But when I'm slumped down (like no choir student ever should be *gasp*), it looks like a silhouette.
I'm not sure what would be making it look different on your Mac, but I have a MacBook Pro and I can see the details of their faces....just thought I would let you know.
On my IPad; at initial resolution it is silhouette as I make it larger I start to see some features, but as I keep on increasing the size the photo goes back to silhouette.
@marshy15 to calibrate is still a bit of a mystery, especially since I have a P.C. but it should be in your computer settings or control panel. I would recommend a quick internet search. It takes about 10 minutes on a mac if I recall and you will have to go through patterns and colors, but it makes a huge difference.

ahh well. im happy with how i can see it haha.
thanks @mizikei :)
