How does it end??

February 25th, 2011
This may be a silly question, but, what usually happen when most people are finished their 365 projects? Do you just close your account? Or start a new year with the previous photos still showing as the last years photos. And when you close your account does that take your photos off the site? (I'm assuming it does). Just curious, wondering if anyone out there does it two or three years running, or do most people just stick with it for a year and that's it. Seems that it would be a lot of work to take a photo every day for two or more years. Anyways, I just saw a few people were nearing the completion of their projects and was just wondering........

I have no idea really...I just got started my self Ü so how will we end this???

Curious as well. Can we get a calendar made up??

No, we don't close our accounts, we keep going! I'm into my second year and have no plans to give up anytime soon. Most of the folks I follow that started last year are still around as well. Good luck with your project!

I'm on year 7.

@jennylee @sudweeks Oh wow! Hadn't come across anyone yet that had multiple years up (that I know of) - good job you guys!!
February 25th, 2011
@sudweeks - that is amazing! I was going to have a quick skip through your last 6 years on here but they aren't all here. I've added you as a contact on Flickr and I'll have a look sometime. Well done to you!!

My understanding is that you can keep going as long as you want to keep taking photos and posting. But, if you are not an ace member only the previous 365 photos may be viewable (even if you're on year 2 or more), even though they will all still be there if you upgrade your account.

@sudweeks Wow Josh!

I'm hoping to keep going past the first year (the 365 community is just the best!), and will definitely consider upgrading to Ace.

@sudweeks Wow that's dedication!

I'm on year 2 now. Upgraded to Ace membership becasue i wanted to contribute to Ross and all his efforts. Then you have another album so last year's is in one and this year's is in a new one. I tried to give it up but couldn't!! :-)
February 25th, 2011
@sudweeks wow thats amazing!

I'm on Year 2. Not posted my first photos for it yet though. I believe if you don't upgrade, eventually your first photos will stop being visible, but they'll still be there if you upgrade later.

Hm. I think someone is pulling your leg about being here for any more than 2 years. If you pull up the "365 Hits 1 Million Photos" thread, you will see that they state in it (after the photo) that it was posted right after the site's 2nd birthday.

@csievert Initially, if I'm not mistaken, this site was actually just Ross' 365 project. His photos go back to 2007 or so. And not to speak for him, but I believe @sudweeks means he's been doing the "project wherein one takes a photo every day" for seven years now. :)

Also, to Paula - you can carry on after hitting the 'last' photo - but I have read in the terms that there may come a point when earlier photos will no longer be accessible until you upgrade to ACE, assuming you go on and on for awhile.

I'll finish my first one in May - but I started a second one the beginning of 2011, which I'll carry on for the rest of the year. I knew I wouldn't want to stop in May and because I find it such an arbitrary date, I wanted the next one to make sense (and I can't wait until January 2012). For now, having two running is tricky; the original serves more as a personal kind of project, with somewhat dull results, whereas I usually put the one I like more in the 2011 folder.

@csievert @indiannie_jones - That's correct, I started my photo-a-day project in 2004 on my own website http://photoaday.sudweeks.net after seeing the photo-a-day project my friend Chris was doing. http://photoaday.livejournal.com/ (He went about 1400 days from April 2003 to March 2007)

Project 365 didn't really get popular until photojojo posted this article in 2006.

It's all personal preference. Like me, I'm done. Been done for about a month, but I stick around too view other people's photos and view the forums!
I may not be posting here anymore but there's tons of interesting stuff to learn from what everyone else posts

So I guess if you don't want to shell out the money to upgrade you just keep using the same album?
