arrghhh! I forgot! And am now being tortured with photos of pancakes! I love savoury ones as well - with ham and mushrooms and cheese.... as well as the lemon and sugar ones of course.... I'm going ot have a belated PD on Saturday I think ( should be out of hospital by then!). :)
I didn't take a pancake picture today but now I wish I had! It's too late as all the pancakes are in my belly! I like them with lemon and sugar, or banana and chocolate spread, omnomnomnom :D
I prefer sweet pancakes. My favourite is the bog standard sugar and lemon juice one. But I do have others, such as this one: blueberries and golden syrup. I did have others before this with raspberries but we ran out of raspberries before I could take a photo :(
I'm liking looking at all your pancake pictures!! I didn't take any pics.. though I did eat :oP Lemon sqeezes and sprinkled sugar on the girls and mine, Andy had golden syrup :o)
Got to be lemon & sugar, BUT for the love of God DO NOT buy Morrisions lemon juice. For some strange reason I forgot to get the lemons and it's all we had in the cupboard.
Loads of juice (well liquid) but didn't taste of anything. :-(
Well we are not religious so not too fussed about having them on shrove, but we do partake in a pancake when the occasion arises, which is when @mrjuggles cooks them as I am absolutely pants at doing such an easy dish!
@lisahutchinson I have to ask a cultural question. When we are talking pancakes here with the lemon and sugar or the savory, are they more in style like a thin French crepe, or are they thick like the American version? It seems everyone has the thin style.
@lisahutchinson Thank you for the clarification. My toppings would very between thick pancakes (butter and generic syrup) and thin pancakes (savory or nuttella with bananas)
My Mum used to put chopped bananas in the batter mix. Do you put sugar in the mix as well as salt and you can separate the eggs and whisk the whites first and add cream and grated lemon rind to the mix too. I'll be trying that tomorrow. Oh and you are supposed to let the batter rest in a fridge for 30 minutes.
There are only 3 toppings/types of pancakes Ill eat. There is one we have here called the Elvis with a peanut butter sauce, bananas, and bacon drizzled all over them. Another is Red Velvet Pancakes, and lastly we have these one pancakes at a local restaurant that are covered in Macadamia Nut sauce.
I cant eat normal buttermilk pancakes with syrup.
i don't have a picture, but just wanted to share that i am so glad i now know about this day because my nickname is "pancakes"! there was the famous syrup incident at my old job...we were real goofs at that restaurant and at the end of one night, i pied a coworker, and he then poured syrup all over my head!! even the boss was dying laughing...it as a really laid-back place to work. anyway, every since then, i have been pancakes. kinda goes with my last name, pankok, anyway, so i'd already gotten it a few times before. so thank you for sharing so that i now know about pancake day!
Nothing beat good old lemon and sugar.
Loads of juice (well liquid) but didn't taste of anything. :-(
Sweet all the way!
Savoury or sweet, they're great with most things, today I had mine with the chopped banana, toffee syrup and whipped cream.
Nom nom nom!
I cant eat normal buttermilk pancakes with syrup.
