Favorite a discussion thread ?

April 7th, 2011
I was wondering if anyone else here had a similar idea or would like to see a feature where we could mark discussions as a favorite or somehow access them like we access our favorite pics. I find myself searching for certain discussions repeatedly for information or referring back to them when I am actually able to try out whatever information it is they are sharing. I realize that I can save them in bookmarks on my computer but I access this site from several different computers so that is not a viable option. I could just wait until I got back to the computer I had bookmarked them on but sometimes I need the info to take a shot before I get to that particular computer. Does anybody else experience this? Do you care?

Much like pinning them, yeah?

No doubt it'd be useful in avoiding duplicates, but not essential for me. :)

I would love the same thing... but it is about 2nd or 3rd on my list of things I demand from Ross. First off... Ross keep doing a fab job and have a good day... second... what Shades said...

You could use something like del.ici.ous to keep your bookmarks online and thus access them from anywhere? Agree though, it'd be useful to have some form of "photography FAQ" or "365project Knowledgebase" (which at its most basic would just be a section for static, pinned, important threads) to direct other people at...

I totally agree, I can never find discussions I'm interested in a second time.

@indiannie_jones You won't know how you lived without it when it happens!

@icywarm I agree about it being 3rd on the list!

@eyebrows I had no idea that was possible! I will be checking that out...Thank you

Meh. I use the Search function :D

@indiannie_jones I know so do I. While it is very handy I cannot remember the exact name sometimes of a discussion so I end up looking at several or lots of threads depending on where it is in the search results until I find it...time is money you know (and so are your photos).

@eyebrows and I agree too that at least a FAQ page or FAQs pinned at the beginning of each section would alleviate the re-currence of some threads.

Keywords :) very effective!

@eyebrows @shadesofgrey I have been trying to find the time to work on that... Ross has green lighted a project where we could have standard definitions and such... so we don't have to define..

I was out with my APS DSLR and was amazed that the f-stop wide open gave me a much larger DOF vs 35mm on the same FL lens, and also how my the FOV changed...

@indiannie_jones yes they are...I have however put in what keywords I thought I needed only to be stumped with pages of not what I was looking for, tried other keywords, nothing and then some more and finally bam! the thread I was looking for. Just an idea to alleviate that process...or at least speed it up. ;)

@icywarm Looking forward to it!

Favorites for discussions would be very handy. I have the same problem with several computers I access the site from & often refer back to specific discussions. FAQ's wopuld be handy too. Overall, I have to say that as a new user I'm very impressed with this site.
