Thankyou 365!! Share famous landmarks!!

April 9th, 2011
Tonight my 6 year old was looking at his world globe and asked if we could visit the Eiffel tower one day (we live in Australia). I told him I didn't know but I am sure I could find some photos on 365. He watched in awe as we saw pics of the eiffel tower, Burj Al Arab Hotel and the pyramids of Egypt and the Great Wall of China. He actually was gasping as the things he asked for appeared before his eyes. Post your pics of famous landmarks to share with William, he would really appreciate it :)
April 9th, 2011
I'm sure he's seen these before but its all I've got

April 9th, 2011
@kjarn He loves it as he went there a couple of years ago. We walked across the bridge, went up the tower, did a tour of the opera house and caught a ferry to Luna Park. This is a fantastic shot as it is all there!!

Not sure that Kuwait Towers are famous worldwide, but it is definitely a really interesting piece of architecture :)
April 9th, 2011
I've got a road snaking up a mountain in Northern Italy, which isn't so much of a "landmark" but I don't think you've many similar roads in Oz :P

April 9th, 2011
12 apostles in Victoria, Australia. On the Great Ocean Road. such as spectacular sight and a tourist magnet.

April 9th, 2011
How about Brighton Pier all lit up shiny at night?

April 9th, 2011
Don't have anything overly significant here, so a shot from last summer :)

April 9th, 2011
@indiannie_jones careful, you'll get arrested for that! :P
April 9th, 2011
@eyebrows Totally went over my head.
April 9th, 2011
@indiannie_jones I *believe* that photographing the tower at night (or maybe just using photos of it for commercial purposes without obtaining a license, more likely) is frowned upon by Le French, so keep your eyes peeled for any suspicious looking guys with berets or strings of onions and blue & white stripy tops in your vicinity
April 9th, 2011
My slightly different take on St Mark's Square - Venice:

April 9th, 2011
@eyebrows For realz?

Okay, I got this. They'll surrender anyway...
April 9th, 2011
@jo365 Niagara Falls - we were there on our overseas holiday during December/January

and here is one a little closer to home (my home that is) - two of the beautiful Glasshouse Mountains

April 9th, 2011
@eyebrows And I'll throw a plate (not a *Cypriot* thing but nobody knows the difference anyway)
April 9th, 2011
@eyebrows - Is that the Stelvio, Mr T Bear?
April 9th, 2011
@marshy15 dude... that sight looks unreal!!! amazing!
@indiannie_jones - good thing there's no watermark.. don't know that photographing the tower has some licensing procedures.. captivating angle annie!

@everyone - Thanks for a tour round the globe! :)
April 9th, 2011
@bobfoto sure is! Spectacular place, to be sure, would love to make another trip up (and down (and up (and down (and up (and down (and you catch my drift...)))))) it
April 9th, 2011
@indiannie_jones *hug* I know the difference (lie) *hug*
April 9th, 2011
@eyebrows Haha! *huuuug*
April 9th, 2011
@eyebrows - I'm envious Mr Bear. I have never ventured forth to the Hemisphere to the North (I'd call that poetry) but I do know Yay, that a week or so from today (more rhyming...) I shall be getting onboard the TGV at Gare du Nord. (Kinda like rhyming in two languages..)

I'm excited. Hopefully I shall take a photo of a Landmark or 6 for this 'ere thread.
April 9th, 2011
I guess it's famous in Melbourne: Luna Park =)

I know he has seen the Burj Al Arab, but here is another =)

And then a VIEW from the Burj Al Arab =)
April 9th, 2011
This isn't necessarily a landmark; but these are the world famous sugar-white beaches of Pensacola, Florida, USA.

And this is Fort Pickens, where Geronimo was held prisoner. This fort also was held by the Union during the Civil War, while the fort across the bay was held by the Confederacy. After the Civil War, it protected Escambia Bay.
April 9th, 2011
@bobfoto excellent rhyming skills Mr Jason, I'd have used your surname there but it rhymes not with amazin'; for truth be told be your lyricism so aptly described, as ne'er before chanced across have I such a talented scribe

Haha!

Anyway, being not quite so worldly as I might like to be, I can only assume that's something in France. Are you sticking in France or venturing about, and how long for? Also yes, it's a lot easier for me in the UK to do such venturing, I don't even have to get out the car (petrol stops excluded) to get there!
April 9th, 2011
@sarabeth_photo - Oh sarabeth, you should venture to South and Western Australia for sand that is sooooo white, it looks like snow!
April 9th, 2011
got a couple of the eiffel tower for him then.

@bobfoto I would LOVE to go to Australia someday! It's on my "bucket list." (Along with several other countries... :))
April 9th, 2011
@eyebrows - in France correct Monsieur Bear. Your wordsmithness is fine, most would rhyme Jason with basin... Oh and France will be a work trip but I will be carrying my camera.

I am excited.
April 9th, 2011
@sarabeth_photo - you will have to keep an eye on a few of us Aussies and our 365 projects for a few landmarks or two. There's the Big Pineapple, the Big Galah, the Big Banana and the Big Yabbie. All iconic Aussie landmarks!!!

@eyebrows Is your photo from the Dolomites?
April 9th, 2011
This isn't a landmark as such but it's quite a stereotypical old Englich Country House. It's Baddesley Clinton House in Worcestershire.

April 9th, 2011
@emmar84 Nope mine are from the Stelvio pass in the northern Italian Alps, and Brighton, UK
April 9th, 2011
@eyebrows Sorry for the mistake, the road looks very similar to one in the Dolomites which has 21 hairpin bends going up the mountain.
April 9th, 2011
@emmar84 It's all good! I don't even know what the dolomites is. Where in the world is it?
April 9th, 2011
The Dolomites are the mountains just above the northern Italian Lakes. I have some photos of them in my 'spare' album on here if you are interested
April 9th, 2011
