Does anyone know what kind of insect this is?

I took this photo a few days ago, and really like it due to the drops of water on the insect; it had just rained, I live on the East Coast of the US, in New England, if that's any help.

Thanks for looking at this photo and trying to help me identify this insect. ;-)

Looks creepy - no idea! But six legs say it's not a spider...

@ukcam That IS a great site! I'm thinking, from the shape of the thorax area, it may be closer to this one: http://bugguide.net/node/view/514963/bgimage

It seemed to be a juvenile beetle..it was very small, and kind of looks "not done yet" if you know what I mean. :-)
I bookmarked this site, thanks so much for sharing it! @ukcam

Hey, I had one of those on my coffee cup yesterday, not the dark red lily eating beetles though, unless it a young-un. Mines name was Harold.

@myla Mine was really shy. He didn't tell me his name, and as you can see,he was kind of trying to hide underneath the flower. Maybe later I'll out up the first pic I took of him. It was from the top of the flower, and then I saw the crazy antennae sticking out...that's how I found him.

@Cherrill was on the right track, it is a Soldier Beetle. Family Cantharidae, possibly a species of Cantharis. Nice find and capture. @ukcam

Hi. I believe Robert Velten has your answer, it's a common beetle here in the UK. I was looking myself, so could add it to my photo's.
May 27th, 2011
Yep, that's a bug!

@indiannie_jones LOL You may be correct, Annie!
