@lauren211 - Tell me about it. Even hubby commented that it was a weird looking spider. That's his belly I think. I'm just glad we found it and not my daughter.
@lolanae - yeah good thing! haha it looks like.... a water spider of some sort. then again I have no scientific knowledge of arachnids. Don't want to study them either because they freak me out lol Now daddylonglegs... I can handle. spiders like THAT.... not so much.
We have these EVERYWHERE in the cattery up on the beams at night! I call them prehistoric dinosaur spiders because they look so old and foul. Anyway I know these guys and its 100% a 'Sac Spider'' (harmless just gross). http://www.extension.umn.edu/distribution/housingandclothing/DK1033.html
Not sure.....what geographical area do you live in? I may be a brown recluse...is there any marking on the back of the spider's head area that resembles a fiddle??
Here's a web page with good information for determining if you are dealing with a Recluse Spider. http://spiders.ucr.edu/recluseid.html
The photo you posted is not clear enough for me to identify this one for certain, it appears to have some large spines on the legs that would rule out Brown Recluse.
Now for some reason, I read the title as being "I need some ID for a spider" like you were going to a fancy dress party as a spider and needed ID like a driving lisence or something. Guess that was stupid.
