Canon T3 or T1i

June 15th, 2011
Hey! I am looking for opinions of anyone who uses a Canon Rebel T3 (NOT the T3i) or Canon Rebel T1i. I'd like your honest opinions please. Thank you!

I have the T1i and I absolutely love it!
I know that the T1i have more megapixels, but other than that i'm not sure what else its advantages are.

@deforauls53 Thanks for your response! Was this your first DSLR? Do you know how many pictures you have taken with it?

@cfitzgerald - Yup! It was my first DSLR, before that I had a Kodak, I can't remember what they are called but they have a shape of a DSLR but are essentially a point-and-shoot.
Oh I can't even count how many photos i've taken with it, with the convenience of being able to hold down the shutter and continuously take photos, I take thousands and sometimes have to narrow it down to ten!

My current DSLR is Rebel T1i and it's also my first real DSLR. I've been very satisfied with it, especially the battery life has amazed me. I've shot some 22000 pics with it and had it for 9 months now. Not once have I regretted getting this model. If I remember correctly, this model has more megapixels and the video recording quality is better than in T3. You know my pics, that's how amazing stuff you can do with T1i ;-D Looking for a second-hand Canon ?

Check out my pictures.

I own the Xsi (which is 1 or two models *below* what those choices are)

Both cameras will create *amazing* pictures.

I was just going through this! I ended up with the t2i, it is my first DSLR and absolutely LOVE IT! My husband wasn't so convinced about this, because of the steep price, but he said the other day, that this was worth it! Yes! When I was looking for my camera, these guys helped me make a decision, not only will you probably spend a couple days watching all their videos (because they are blasted funny), you will learn about both cameras!

I have the T1i (500D here) - do you have anything specific you wanna know?

@indiannie_jones My last camera just died. It was less than 3 years old and had around 50,000 photos in its life. I guess I need to know if the T1i will last long, if it can handle more than my old XS? My XS was learning camera, and I wonder if that is why it died so young. The T1i is also around 100 more than the T3 and I'm trying to see if it is worth the dough. I don't want another one to die young because I am really sad! THANKS!

@janmaki There you go! We all know it's just the equipment that makes the photo so I better get the same camera as the master! ;) Anyway, I am looking at the T1i body only. The two cameras are within a $100 of each other and I am trying to see if the T1i is worth it. I am leaning towards that one and one of the reasons is so I can use the same batteries as my old XS. Then I'd have 3 BATTERIES! I'd love to buy a cheaper used one, but I always buy the wrong used ones, so we stick to the for sale new ones! Thanks for your opinion!

I chose the T1i over the T3 just recently. It felt better in my hand and it was worth the extra $100. I love love it!!

@shutterbugger Thank you! That really helps!

@cfitzgerald Welllll Jinx posted something the other day about the lifespan of Canons - the 500D was at 100,000 images. I've had mine since late October 2010 and I learn more and more each day. I think it's a good bet, tbh.
