And that problem is that we haven't had a Houston 365ers photo shoot or get together. Is anyone interested in meeting?
There are so many cool places in our area where we could meet for completely different photos - urban, rural, artsy, architectural, historical, zoo, parks, western, gulf coast, uniquely Texan, hurricane effects, space program, etc.
I know it's hot right now, but, hey, that's our life in The Bayou City.
Let me know what you think as I am looking forward to hearing from Y'ALL!

@pinktornado39 I'm game. I'm still new to this site so meeting up would be interesting. And since, I'm just starting out, I could use all the tips and tricks I can get :)
Also, an idea- if we do the museum district, we've got those museums (science, art, downtown traffic!! egad!) and also the park (awesome urban art as well as beautiful nature- oh and the Japanese gardens!!) all right there in one central location... Then a short drive to the zoo as well. We could all go eat lunch somewhere (and be close to the skyline maybe...)
Of course if we're talking Gulf Coast and hurricane effects....there's tons of stuff to photograph in Galveston. The Elissa, the Strand, all the tree art from the damaged oak trees from Ike, the train museum, the historic Galveston homes, the BEACH!?!?!, all the regrowth on Boliver...
And I do happen to have a beach house........................
I am adding to your list @musikinsey who lives in the Houston area if I am not mistaken. Sorry to not join you but my next trip to my Second State will be to Austin for a Texas Exes training and football game. I know my life is rough.

Hey, I'm in the Richmond/Rosenberg area. I'd be up for a walk around, too. Maybe something totally in the middle, like downtown or museum district. (Just did a photo walk a couple weeks ago on The Strand in Galveston w/ Texas Photo Forum group, so would prefer something different.). Sounds like fun! It's always neat to see how 15 photographers can all capture different scenes while all in the same location.
@girlincamo Roanoke, its prob too far away. I doubt anyone lives near me lol its such a small city id hardly call it a city. Im at least 3hrs from anything entertaining. Cant wait to get outta this place haha
@amyhughes - I've been down there THREE times this year, what more do you want? hehehe! If I can find another $200 plant ticket, I'll be there! I got family there, surely I could find a place to stay? hahaha!!

I am thinking we may have to just plan on several photo excursions (p.e.) :) ... I am mostly free the next three weekends, but am thinking either the 23rd or the 30th might work well. We can schedule another p.e. for August if anyone is interested. Herman Park might be s good central location for a first get together. But running through my head right now is "beach house! beach house!" lol @amyhughes. Rice is near Herman Park & has cool architecture. I'll get back to you soon - keep the input coming!

@amyhughes I live in Victoria and really REALLY would love to come. When is it??? Will other husbands/wives of 365ers be there do you think?? I wouldn't want to make that trip without my husband. Sounds like a blast, though and I would absolutely LOVE to meet you all.
@amyhughes our cameras have batteries? man, I hate being the last to know . . . hahaha . . . I hope spouses can come along, mine is coming along to keep me out of trouble :)

Gene Norman is saying it should make landfall southwest of us on Friday around 1 p.m. We have a few options: 1. to be err on the side of caution, we can go ahead and cancel the photo excursion now and reschedule it ; 2. we can wait until Friday morning/afternoon to make the final decision; 3. anyone who wants to document Don and play photo journalist can get together and have a hurricane/tropical storm/ Louisiana-style photo party.
I live north of town and don't really want to drive south into a storm with my son, so I am leaning toward rescheduling, but am happy to wait until Friday to make the final decision.
Let Amy and me know your thoughts.

@bullethead321@pinktornado39 very good point..I'm a terrible driver in the heat, let alone in a storm. However, I never trust the news and their oh it's gonna hit us blah blah mess. So I vote for waiting as well to make the decision :)
@amyhughes - Amy, I'm fine with waiting until Friday. I would hate to miss out on all the fun! The irony of our weather ... Heck, we should have planned something sooner and we might have avoided the drought altogether. :)
