@kmrtn6 ++++I have a G11 which is very close to the G12 and when i dont want to lug the dslr around with me I take the G11, I think its excellent, very sharp and has manual overides, although the lag frustrates me if there is an action shot to take.
Cant help you with the sx30, so sorry, but for what you would spend on a G12, I reckon you could get a dslr??, bit bigger perhaps, but a huge leap in quality!!, Go on, treat yourself!! : )
