Camera Bag Help

May 24th, 2010
I currently use a Canon XS and I've been looking for a camera bag to carry it in. Does anyone have any advice on what type of camera bag brand or models I should look into. I'm trying to look for a bag that I can "grow" into for when I get more lenses in the future. The bags I have seen have been either too big or too small. any advice would be great! Thank you.

I recommend you check out the Think Tank line. The Speed Demon is a waist type bag. Not too big, not too small. I am looking into getting one, as the Lowepro backpack I have is a lot, and I only end up using one camera and two lenses anyway.

I started off with a Promaster bag that I paid $70 for and ended up not really liking it. Then I found another one, used, for $20 and bought it. I really love it but at some point I'll probably have to go to a backpack model since I can't fit anything else in this bag.

It holds my Canon XTi, a Canon 430EX II Flash, a 75x300 lens, a 60mm Macro Lens, various filters, and a ton of other stuff that I have shoved into all of the wonderful pockets.

I am a big fan of Lowepro's Slingshot line.

You can literally swing the thing round to your front and open a compartment to get to the camera and lenses and such, so you don't need one hand to hold the bag. It's pretty neat-o. In my 200 I have room for my 450D, stock lens, wide angle, 50mm prime, with room for one more big lens, the battery charger, remote trigger... it's pretty roomy

I have the Sling Shot 200 as well. My only complaint is that it is pretty uncomfortable to hike with. Great for around town but when I tried to take it up a mountain I was disappointed. I should have known but just giving you the heads up.

Thanks for all the responses so far. The Lowepro slingshot seems pretty good. Anyone have any more feedback on this bag? or any more advice on particular bags? Thanks!
