FAQ re:Themes

August 17th, 2011
I would like to suggest that there be a link to the FAQs in the drop-down menus at the top of the page. Right now, you have to go to the bottom and click on Support/Feedback/Contact to find them at http://365project.org/support/faq
I was looking for an answer to my question about themes and competitions. If you tag your picture with the theme tag - such as abstractaugust, is that sufficient to enter the competition or should I still use the share link and enter my picture? Also, do you go to the discussion group topic or look in the blog? What if there are 3 discussion groups on that theme as there were on the July challenge. Could some of these questions be addressed in the FAQ?
Thanks!

Tagging is the best way

The "official" theme is the one in the blog. All other challenges/competitions have been set up by members. Some are random. Some follow on from week to week (such as the artist challenge and WWYD). Sometimes they aren't competitions that lead to a winner, but simply challenges that another member is setting her/himself for the month, But they post about it so that others can join in too (I think this is the case for abstractaugust).

Hope this helps!

OK thanks very much! I sometimes haven't been able to find the pictures in the discussions after I have tagged them. I didn't realize the difference between official competitions and the challenges!

I know for Abstract August it was supposed to just be a general theme that members could try out for a month. It is not the official one that is run by Ross which is under the Weekly Theme and the winner has the ability to select the next theme. I think Abstract August got listed as a challenge, but with over 500 photos and halfway through the month, there will most likely be no voting on who had the best one (or there could be depending on how my Labor Day weekend goes). I did post the theme in a discussion the week before and then did a follow up a week after just in case people wanted to read articles on abstract photography to help them along.

@brumbe
Thanks, Paula. I have had fun turning a couple of my vacation shots into abstracts- nicer than saying they were poor pictures- change them around a bit & there you are!

@pamelaf generally if you click on the tag (your own or another users) it will lead you to all the photos tagged the same. That way you can see what others are tagging. I have found that searching the tag or browsing by tag does not always bring photos up, however if you can find one photo with the tag, it will lead you to the others.
