Finished Project Album

September 16th, 2011
I just wanted to share that I ordered a photo book from Picaboo.com last night. With my project complete and all 365 photos, I was prepared to shell out the better part of a paycheck for it. I mean, how many times in life does one actually shoot a photo a day for a year, right? Anyway, I was able to build my book page by page using their templates- and of the templates I used, put as many as 12 photos on one page. Since their pricing starts adding a per-page charge after 20 pages this was very important (more photos per page = less pages!). I ended up with all 365 photos in my book, one image as the cover, one as the back cover and had 65 pages. It ended up being around $100 US dollars, far less than I'd prepared myself for paying! Anyway, I've seen a lot of posts on here about how to go about printing the completed project and thought I'd offer up my experience. I'll try to post again and let you know how it turns out once I receive it. My fear is that 12 pics on a page makes them postage stamp size and too small to view with any detail. I tried to pick out the "duds" from my project to put on those pages and used the better photography for the pages I chose the two or three image templates.

I have been lucky to purchase a groupon for a photo book $35 for $125, which should give me plenty of pages. I have done these in the past and been very impressed. Also you are right, you should treat yourself to the book after all your hard work.

Do you all recommend picaboo? I have used shutter fly in the past but I have been disappointed with their print quality/ colors lately.

How cool! That sounds great!

@girlincamo That is great that you now have this very special keepsake. I will be doing something similar when I complete my first year. This has been an amazing journey so far. I just passed the 100 mark

How time consuming was that? Also, were you able to copy and paste from 365? (I think I may have deleted some from my computer.) Thanks for the info!

@mandyj92 As an ACE we have access to the photos on here, I'm not clear exactly how to get them, but I think they are better quality then the copy and paste method. Ross or the other admins would be able to answer that!

@mandyj92 @shadesofgrey
The ACE member process for accessing your original size photo is as follows:
View 'more sizes'
Scroll to the bottom of the list and there is an option "original size"
Select the hyperlink (it starts like this : http://static.365project.org )
Paste that hyperlink into your browser, and the image will download to your PC.

@mandyj92 @eleanor - I did have to swipe a few off the site accessing them just how Elanor stated, BUT when I uploaded those to Picaboo, it flagged them as "low resolution" Not sure how those will come out printed. I had saved most of mine to my external harddrive but there were those few that somehow didn't get saved or maybe the computer gremlins ate them, I dunno!
@brumbe -yeah, I'd bought a $100 groupon for $25 and used that- but picaboo won't allow the percent off specials they normally run to be used with that for some reason.
@mandyj92 - it took me about two and a half hours to get it all done. I did try to group photos so they looked better on the page, all the flag stuff together, beach stuff together, fall, flowers, etc. Some pics I used as the background page and have other photos "on top" What took me the most time was even before I started with picaboo- organizing and making sure I had all 365 photos. At one point I was missing three but didn't know which three, so I went photo by photo through my project and compared it to what I had in the file to upload for the book. That took FOREVER to find those missing three!
I received notifcation early this morning that my book has shipped, I can't wait to see it!!! and that was a super fast turn around- I ordered it Wednesday night!

I can't wait to hear what you think of it! I may do something similar when I finish in late October.
However, the task of getting all of my 365 photos together will be huge. I was saving them to their own folder, but somehow got off track so it's pretty random. Ugh. ;
