Congrats! But no idea:) When I posted a sort of similar question a few weeks ago (about a friend's photos) - Ross suggested starting at $2000, open to negotiation.....
Just remind them once you set the fee that they are using the photos to book events and tha tthey would have to hire someone else for a full day of shooting.
I am not sure how much you should charge, but I can tell you that good pictures are valuable to their business. When we chose a venue for my daughter's wedding, we looked at pictures of each venue so as to get an idea of how it would look when set up. I guess what I am trying to say.........good pictures are a valuable asset to them so I think they should be willing to pay you accordingly.
Will they mention in their publication that you are the photographer?
I was at a wedding recently where they had photos from "recommended photographers" displayed in the reception, so I guess how much you charge them depends to some extent on how much recognition they give you. If they purely want to use your images for their benefit, then take as much as you can. If you're both going to benefit, then be more accommodating.
@wormentude I agree! I just let a company magazine pretty much HAVE a photo of mine, but it's because they are all but doing free advertising for me with the amount of credit and contact info they put under it ;)
Congrats!! Great news.
Charge what you think your worth! A shoot for a proff snapper for advertising like this would start around £2k. Just make sure they outline exactly what they want them for, then if they use them for something else, they have to come back to you for permission.
Jinx is away at the moment and may not have an opportunity to check in here while he's away ... I'm sure he has an opinion on this matter though ;) Will tell him to have a look if he can, if not, when he's home :)
I would just make sure you get photo credit with your website or number- I wouldn't expect money though, sometimes it's worth it to get some publicity!
The way we handle that is making sure we're given credit on their website, that we're under their recommended vendors link on their website, and that they have our postcards and/or business cards in their area of recommended vendor material or in their folder they give to their brides. We have found that the referrals we get from this far outweigh any monetary value you could ask for. Most experienced venue know what the trade off is for wanting to use someone's images. Hope this helps :)
You've probably got this sorted by now, but if it were me I'd look at an ongoing arrangement. One where I provide them with some images for limited use, from time to time, and they list me as one of their preferred photographers, and provide a place for me to display a couple of albums and framed shots for prospective clients to peruse. If someone goes in there to check the place out for a reception or wedding, they automatically get my name and have the opportunity to check out my work (of photos taken at that location). Much potential for future work with that type of arrangement.
Congrats mate! Make the most of it!
