I often wonder about editing my pictures. Most of my images are raw, straight from the camera. I'll sometimes adjust the lighting or crop for composition. As I look through the photos here on 365, I wonder what kind of editing was done to this or that picture (all of you are awesome photographers by the way!). I'm thinking of adding an "edit" line to the end of my picture notes stating what, if anything, I've done to the picture. What do you think? Would any of you do that too? It would be interesting to me and maybe others to know that a specific editing technique was applied to get a particular effect. Sometimes asking a question in the comments of a picture gets lost or we forget to go back and look and see if an answer was posted.
Most of my photos are just out of my camera. The only "edit" I have done lately is to add my name to my pictures. I have a personal theme on Thursdays for editing photo other than that straight out of camera to my project. I like your idea of an edit line, it would help me. I would also like to know the camera settings.
The most I've done with mine is rotate/crop/reframe and adjust the white balance. Today's shot (3rd June 2010) just needed straightening and then I cut out the detail to get the mother and child alone with the birds. I try to get the shot right as much as possible when I take it and I've already learned from this project what the best white balance setting is on my camera for different conditions. I like the edit line thing too. I think it's probably also a good idea to mention what camera you use in your profile or something, if you don't go the full way to give camera info on each shot.
There's a clickly thing next to the photo that gives more information about the photot, like the camera settings. Other than that, I tend to only give information about my editing if I've done more than rotating and cropping. One of the people I'm following is currently posting before and after shots - worth a look. http://365project.org/chrisr62/days-in-the-lif
I love editing...I view it as creating art.
As is taking pictures!
And sometimes, no editing is needed...which I find makes a great shot particularly rewarding!
I usually explain my editing in all of my captions.
And if I don't, it's probably because I've described the technique, in a previous daily entry.
I haven't included editing info on any of my shots to date but now that you mention it I think I will try to remember to add it in the future. Most of my shots have basic adjustments done (contrast, saturation, fill light etc) so I'll probably only add it to those shots where I've done more than that.
Like Barb, I love to edit, but I do like the idea of posting it in the comments. I know I'm very curious about the editing of certain people, and would like to know how they did it. Good idea.
