i need a few hints and tips on what else i could do to make it better, and is this the right type of shot for miniature faking?

thanks in advance!

Don't know is the honest answer. This looks like a cool shot to me. But since I am completely unable to use photoshop at all I don't actually know what miniature faking is.

@mmmchoc I think this can also be called tiltshift. I know there have been discussion threads about this before. Try searching in your search bar (top right) for tilt shift and you should be able to find those threads :o)

@psychographer thanks :-)

yep, it's definitely tiltshifting, traditionally you have a lens in 2 parts that is flexible (like a hose) and you twist / angle it to get these types of effects, photoshop does a half-decent reproduction, it's used in lime lapse videos quite often.

Your photo is good, the focus has been put on the ride. What did it look like with the focus on the people standing just in front?

I agree with @sparkle about the colors and pov! Great pop! I haven't attempted anything like this, so I am no help... but very fun :)

This website has some guidelines about the kind of photo that works well with tiltshift - and has the software to create the effect

http://tiltshiftmaker.com/

and here's a photo I edited using that website:

i love the colors in this, but i'd like to see the focus on the people too!

I too would like to see how this looks with the focus on the people. It looks like a great shot to try the tilt-shift with.

I made my first attempt at it last week with a shot from a football game.

I used the same site as @sarahhorsfall did for this shot.
