I would like to enter 3 photographs in the competition, they can be of anything.

So my delimma is this:
I CAN'T CHOOSE WHICH ONES TO PUT IN!!! :(

Please please let me know which ones you think should go in the show, if you would you'll be my new best friend (:

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Julia, we will all have different opinions about which photographs of yours we like the most, hopefully, members will give you enough votes for you to get a concessus.
My personal favourites are 3, 32 and 35.
Good luck with the competition,
regards

p.s. I do like 72, the colours are lovely, but imho for a competition image I feel that it could do with a little more interest, regards

Hi Julia. I looked through all your stuff. Hope I'm not going overboard with my add'l comments, but I know photo judges, and a theme of what they look for:

20 recommend adding a little contrast and a touch of color saturation.
35 is just awesome
50 beautiful color and sharp
59 is a great image. Perhaps add some contrast to bring out a "little" more "Rembrandt shadow" on the left side of her face
72...very relaxing

Good luck! These are always fun, win or "not win"

35 - definite! It's great! Other than that, go with what the others say - you have too many good ones for me to choose from. Oh yeah, 50 is pretty too. :-)

Julia, this is hard, really. The reason, you need to know your audience you are dealing with and the type of contest this is. Is this landscape, photo journalistic, or open (plus others) secondly. Are your original images suited for quality prints? What size prints are you allowed to enter? After attending several shows as a viewer, never and entrant, I can say that these things matter a lot. Images on a computer screen (given most don't have calibrated screens) see your images in different lights, tonal quality and clarity. You also need to represent YOU, with images that move you. And trust me, you could have an award winning entry but depending on how judging is done, you might not even get a vote. As a simple example, look at our weekly themes. Although I would not want the job, the committee that picks the images out of the group of photos. I don't necessarily agree with each and every week. And then on top of that, the top 5 images selected I think there should be a clear winner that doesn't wint. Point being, put in the images YOU like as long as they are Print Quality worthy.

By the way I would choose #3, but this would probably do better at an art festival to sell to the public then winning a contest.

To give you a Comment And Critique BOTH ways on a popular image in this thread to help illustrate my point more is on photo 72.

the naysayers point of view:
The sky is indeed gorgeous but what is the subject? The silhouette is only partial of the tree I would have liked to see at least half of the tree and this should have been shot in landscape mode not portrait.

The Yaysayers point of view:
The is brilliant, the color capture is great. The use of a portrait mode for this landscape is a rule that is broken that works. Having a touch of the ground gives a great sense of size to the sky, with that added touch of the palm tree giving it a sense of location. Just brilliant.

In the end, pick what YOU like, don't worry about our points of view but I appreciate you asking. And make sure you get good QUALITY PRINTS for your exhibition. Lastly, keep us posted.
